Only around 250 animals left in entire country, actually in Malaya (western Malaysia), the only place in Malaysia where it is naturally found, hence internationally named as 'Malayan Tiger' (not 'Malaysian Tiger' as Malaysia would have wanted it!). And the number keeps decreasing and pretty soon won't be enough to sustain the natural population. The number is down from several tens of thousands that existed centuries ago. The problem caused by illegal poaching by culprits who go after the animal's skin & internal organs believed as elixir and medicines to cure many human ailments, illegal killing when animal strays into populated areas, illegal poisoning by humans etc. Pretty soon the majestic animal will just be seen as symbols, nothing more than that.
