One tip is to get some containers to put the item you want cleaned in, (eg: peanut butter jar) and put the cleaner in that and not the main tank, you can have different jar sizes and cleaners. This keep the ulrasonic cleaner tank clean. I fill my Ulrasonic tank with hot water so I don't have to wait for it to get hot.
@pukkimi
@pukkimi Жыл бұрын
Or if the cleaned item does not have sharp edges, use a ziplock bag. Then you don't have to eat the whole jar of peanut butter and it even works better :)

I've seen a few people use these cleaners before but just haven't bit the bullet to buy one yet. I'm amazed by the cleanliness of that stone too, got a few old stones that are plugged up so that would be awesome to clean them.

My 2nd comment. I just ordered 1. I can live with a slower heat up time. Like you Matt, I don't have time to burn. Boil the kettle first, no big deal. The price is reasonable. I have been looking for a while. Most others on Amazon ect charge huge delivery to Australia . This 1 what you pay for the unit, is it, del inc.I reckon it's a matter trying different detergents ect for the item you are trying to clean. My other post mentioned carby's and some gun parts. Who knows I might get excited and clean something I otherwise wouldn't have. Thanks for the vid Matt.

I have that ultrasonic cleaner but with the vinyl record adapter. Over 3,000 records later and I LOVE it! The only thing I had to do was insure I was using distilled water so I wouldn't contaminate the records. Records that looked quite clean were, in reality, just the opposite. I was amazed at the junk this machine got out of those grooves. I can hardly wait to see how mine works out in my shop cleaning all of my old tools. The record cleaning adapter is very easy to remove so the basket can be used.

Nice to see you embracing newer tech Matty, I have a GT Sonic Ultrasonic cleaner which I use for cleaning a variety of things from mechanical components to removing flux from PCB's, they really are pretty great. The unit I have also heats up fairly slowly, it's has 1L tank capacity with a 100W heating element, I always use pre-heated distilled water to start out in order to boost the water temperature and then set a temperature on the unit between 50-60C, run-time depends on how dirty a component is but I normally just fire stuff in for ~20-30mins although my unit will go up to 90 minutes which I have never needed to do. One thing you should avoid is putting in the wife's jewellery in all at the same time, the different metal types will react with each other and result in staining which will require further cleaning with specialised jewellery cleanser to fix, so if you use it for that purpose seperate them by metals and clean them in different batches with a fresh bath for each batch, I learned from experience 😅

I've had a couple of cleaners over the years and I've found them to be invaluable. My heating elements are the same, I guess it's just to keep the temp up rather than heat it from cold. I've found it's best to thoroughly degrease everything before they go in and for smaller items put them in a glass jam jar full of solution, if they touch the bottom of the bowl they won't get fully cleaned.

Ref Flat Stones, I think you can cut the broken end off with a diamond blade that tile cutters use?, maybe cut the other one in half, personally I prefer shorter ones. great suggestions and comments on using the Ultrasonic cleaner, the only additional I can add is, Degassing, use some rods to raise basket out of tank to use small containers (save on cleaning fluid), dish washer fluid works well on brightening items. Have fun.

Hello Matty.....back in the 90's when I worked for Volvo Trucks, I was given an Ultrasonic Cleaner by Kent-Moore tools that was made for cleaning diesel fuel injectors....well, I threw tons of stuff in that sucker....the cleaning solution was sodium hydroxide. with water....[note, do not put aluminum in that solution or it will dissolve] anyway, I had some Snap-On metric sockets from the 70's that were identified by a black band where there was no chrome but had worn off the black.....that black band was rejuvenated to original condition after a spin in the Cleaner....I eventually just used water with no additives....I have been told that dirty water actually helps the cleaning action, but I have no proof.....when I used to clean brass shell casings, we would add a dishwashing product that was citric acid based....CitraShine or something like that....maybe try that too....of course, hot alkaline is always great to remove grease.... by the way, how did the tea you made taste after being in the Cleaner... best wishes from the 'Other Sunshine State' Paul in Florida USA p.s. now I want one of those Vevor's p.s.s. it may be good for blackening tools with that sodium hydroxide/water mix? it sure cleaned out the grease from the lettering on my automotive tools.....

A quick calc shows that a 200W heater raises the temperature of 10 litres of water by 0.0048 deg.C per second. So it will take 2.3 hours (!!) to go from 20 deg.C to 60 deg.C (assuming no heat is lost). As others have said, the heater is probably just intended to maintain the temperature constant, not heat the water from cold.

Hey Matty, you should try either citric acid powder for rusty stuff,greasy stuff use a super clean wash liquid that you can pickup at your local parts store or a automotive,probably also at any farm supply. C L R isn't enough for what your trying to clean although it did a good job on your stones from what I seen in your video. SUPER CLEAN WORKS QUITE WELL ON GREASY STUFF AND WORKS EVEN BETTER WITH THE MACHINE YOUR USING

One thing I've noticed wth mine is the heater is better at keeping the water hot than heating up from cold not even sure if its supposed to be a heater instead of just a heat maintainer.I start with hottest water from the tap and the heater keeps it steaming hot also if you don't wanna use a bunch of cleaner you can put items in a plastic bag or a container as far as heating goes you'd need a much more powerful unit that can provide more power to heat up water quickly it takes quite a bit of juice to heat cold water which is why water heaters run on 220 120 can heat water fast just not a lot if you start putting in bigger elements to heat faster you'll start pulling more juice than typical home wiring is capable of carrying and start tripping breakers then you need to jump up to more power and thicker wire which makes it something most won't use cause you can't just plug it in to a regular outlet etc
@incubatork
@incubatork Жыл бұрын
Hi Matty, as you have found they take ages to heat up, I use hot water out of the hot tap to get started. To save on cleaning/degrasent buy some grip lock bags of different sizes and use them with a small amount of cleaner/degrasent, fill the tank with normal water and drop the bags in, your only waste is whats in the bag, you can also use glass jars with lid or even Tupperware boxes as long as they are sealable. mine is 25lts so its a waste if you have to throw away al that much cleaner every time.

Hi Matty, bought similar unit 2 months, yet to use it. Pulled it apart to see what makes it work. Has 3 transducers epoxied to the tank bottom and a small heater ceramic glued to the botom of the tank. I think the price is dictated by the amount of tranducers fitted to the unit. Priced the transducers, not cheap. Will clean my oil stones today, don't think the heating time will be a problem up here in the tropics.

Hi Mat. The stones came up nice and clean and the gear wheel looked good. I think I would try some heavy duty detergent like simple green that might remove more of the oil. A follow up on the heater element would be good as 200 watts is on the lower side for 10Lt one would expect 500 watts to ensure the top range could be maintained.

If you compare to your kettle, that boils 1-2 liters of water, and is 2-3kW. I use a 200W heater for an aquarium that I want 26 C in a room that is normally around 20 C. So yes, I don't expect a 200W heater would warm that up very quickly. Fine if you don't mind leaving it to warm up for a while. Or fill it with hot water to start with. It's probably done that way for less complex safety requirements - or for "we keep it on 24/7 anyway" situation. It looks very similar to mine - except mine was a tiny version - that lasted about 10 minutes in operation (two or three days between me getting it and it being used for real). [Not saying it IS the same - mine didn't have a Vevor label, and it may well be manufactured by a different company that "borrowed" some of the designs from Vevor]. Also, I can imagine Matty running around the workshop "what can I put in the cleaner. Oh this'll do..." trying to find "test pieces" for cleaning.

G'day Matty. The ultrasonic cleaner, definitely works, & will clean just about anything. But you have to realise 200 watts will only heat so much, compared to a kettle of 2000 watts +. For small shop, this does a reasonable job, unless you want to go into Industrial sizes.

You can send Vevor my direction, I have a Facebook group with nearly 100,000 members and my members would love to see reviews of some of their products. I actually have the same ultrasonic cleaner from Vevor, heating up does take a bit of time. I start by heating up the distilled water on the stove and bring it to 50c then add it to the unit. Under normal circumstances if you just add cold water it could take a couple hours to heat up.

i have a one tha looks exactly like that one,bought on aliexpress,but it has a heater of 400w,and not the vevor logo-otherwize exactly the same,very happy whit it,only thing i do is to eighter take wot water from the tap,or if i need hotter,i boil some - going over 60 degrees,makes really a big difference,i usually run at 70,below 50 is pointless - one thing i have noticed is to use a couple of squirts of washingup-liquid to take away the surface tension of the water,then the cleaningsolution reach small areas and clean them better -absolutley the best thing is to fill up whit hot water,then use a zip-bag whit something really strong,like petrol - that makes things extremley clean..just have to ease off on the temperature a bit,diesel also works miracles

To see how effective the cleaner is; put about a 5x8 inch sheet of aluminum foil in the bath. If you find pinhole sized holes in the foil it's working fine. If there are larger than a couple of mm's holes it's less effective. The smaller the holes the better.

Thanks for the video Matt. CLR is designed for short exposure at full strength so I think your dilution may be waaaay to much. Might need to put a lot more CLR in the bath. I regions recently purchased a vevor, ultrasonic cleaner. I turned it on a couple nights ago for half an hour with the heater function turned off. It seems that the water temperature still rows to 44 Celsius fever company tells me this is normal because the transducers do cause some heat but this seems a little excessive to me. I’m wondering if anyone experienced the same outcome.

Gday, I’ve been using hot water from the kettle to start with, I haven’t been using the heater and I find it still heats up while I’m using it, cheers

Only 200W element? Quite small but likely OK for the machine if you leave it on for more frequent use.

Thank you, all we need is another Vevor tool review. I usually fast forward through the commercials. I don’t need to watch a infomercials too! Seams like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.. there my rant is over. Thank you
