Will it generate some fog at 12v also? must it be 24v only?

I just bought one from ebay, I haven't got the vaguest idea how the hell it works, but it looks like black magic!!..can I immerse this in petrol and get petrol vapor fumes to power my bike as well? will the 24 volt dc fume maker short circuit and blow up the fuel reservoir?
