Which is the better ultra wide angle lens for Nikon Z mount? Nikkor 17-28mm f2.8 vs Viltrox 16mm f1.8. Both have pros and cons on the Nikon ZF. Does Nikon have the worst vlogging stabilization in the business? So far, the Nikon has a most beautiful image at the cost of everything I love lol.

The Zf is looking good! Nikon's 40/2 is an amazing lens, the 28/2.8 is better than good, but not as special as the 40. I'd take the prime over that zoom on FF for sure. On my Z30, the Tamrikon's are good, but not even close IQ wise to even the 24-70/4 S on my Z6/Z6ii's.

Hey man, little advice for cleaning elements, been there, alcohol leaves smudges and traces behind. Take 4 100% cotton q-tips, some isopropyl alcohol and some distilled water. Take 2 q-tips, wet with the IPA and slightly dry them against a cotton blanket (push the tip to discard excess liquid), then start rubbing them gently against the element in a circular motion from the outside to the inside. Once that is done, and IPA has evaporated (it's quick), wet the other two q-tips with the distilled water, repeat the drying process to have them damp and not wet, then repeat the motion you did with the IPA but for some more laps around the element (8-10). If needed you can repeat the last step with distilled water till the element is clean. This is the factory standard cleaning process for lens elements, goodbye fingerprints and smudges!

Viltrox had the better look but when you put up the 28mm, 40mm Nikon, and especially the Voightlander 58mm even at T4 the rendering and pop on that lens was phenomenal. I agree that you cant match rendering in post with white balance or color panel change. The look of those low element older lenses are just special.

Is this straight out of the camera or tweaked in da Vinci? I continue to be impressed by Nikon’s ‘secret sauce’ regarding exposure for human beings. I remember that even when you tested that inexpensive Nikon model 30 camera sometime ago (but it had a goofy flip screen as I recall), the exposure was pretty good.

@audioupgrades Air blower takes care of any bits of cotton that might be left during the drying stage. Cloth is hard to move near the extreme edges of the outer surface of the front or back element. When using a full frame lens on APSC camera or in APSC mode, the image is cropped in to the extant of the camera (@1.5 Nikon and Sony, 1.6 Canon) however, the aperture does not change. A f2.8 lens remains a f2.8 when used on an APSC camera or in crop mode. Using a tele-converter (introducing additional magnification) will adjust the aperture, this is also visible when shooting, you will notice the drop in light/brightness of the image in the viewfinder with a 1.4 or 2.0 tele-converter.

You always multiply the Tony's for background blue on aps-c. You have to reframe your shot, and you will lose background blur.
@waynerm002
@waynerm002 Ай бұрын
@@cameraconspiracies Sorry, that is incorrect, Aperture controls the amount of light the lens provide to the sensor. The sensor crop factor changes the field of view and depth of field, not the amount of light coming in. When you meter a scene with a light meter, it doesn't care about what sensor is being used however, the aperture range of the lens is what you would be inputting. if you meter for f1.4, 1.8, 2.8, etc., it provides the correct exposure values based on the chosen aperture.

@@Joe_VanCleave Apologies, that wasn't clear in the video, he just said 1.5X crop and posted the values based multiplication of the focal length and aperture. There are a lot of discussions I've seen with people saying manufacturers are lying about the aperture on crop lens. If they are solely basing it on the depth of field or the "Tonneh" look of a FF lens, most of shooting for a long time understand this but, those new or getting into photography/videography aren't aware.

You should give the Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 a try. Heavy? Yes 1100 grams, plus the FTZ adds another 100 grams.. but those G2 lenses on Nikon are not what you became accustom to with Sony. The stabilization actually works. I can speak personally to the 15-30, but the 35mm and 85mm were both stellar on the Z6. FYI, many Nikon lenses and other Camera companies best lenses are made by Tamron. My tamron 35mm and 85mm both registered as Nikon lenses in exif data because they are the same lenses as the very popular F mount 35mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 Nikkor lenses, just with added weather proofing and better stabilization. Cue the "More you know" rainbow.

Just a though as i had the issue with forced overheat shutdown of dji pocket 3 in EU (48 celsius - recent change to the law) that would not happen is US companies are removing high framrate due to overheat legislation in EU and to simplify development/distrybution. They could manage those by gelocation in firmware but maybe they don't want to bother. So in the end smaller cameras/phones without the fan are downgrading the slowmotion options and we can expect that it will be a trend.

But most people probably cannot recall over one hundred things. Menu systems basically are there for the people that make menu systems. You ramp it up, like 12 6 8, but your just going to confuse people. Like i got this astrolathe calculus pluggin and you adjust invisible nature. The 13watts is for salt coca cola because the ceramic doesn't corrode. But its still better than my freemaxx gallops that clidesdale pretty good. Let’s be honest IBIS with a super wide angle on FF is challenging. It is one thing to take a hand hold photo or static film, but once you start walking you have to compensate for a ton of movement. How many FF bodies can handle walking with a 16-17mm with IBIS or IBIS with digital stabilization? IMO you are looking at gyro territory and not hand held and if hand held not without digital stabilization which will crop your FF. How can you physically compensate for walking motion with a stabilized FF sensor?

Ohhh now you like color fidelity, I'm a bit joking about that but what you say often not pinting color fidelity so is "3d pop" bcause with lower glass number comes a lot of downsides as astigmatism flare chromatic aberration which are leading to the opposite of fidelity of color department and shure you can get all off what you want but not on somewhat old lenses like canon ef which will have a variety of color shifts. What I try to say is that your journey is not wrong but just blind sighted, modern lens have there place so we can enjoy much modest lens with flowes in it, 3D pop is just a "your perfect view on what an image should looks like" so please man don't confuse what you like with science and good things. better of looking at yourself as an artist who educate people on tast not on thruth because if not you are all wrong and worst of all you who think your are showing a new way, you are exactly doing the same as half the youtubeur here. Because if there wasn't anything to criticize of modern lenses you were not there, so let them be so we can enjoy flowed lenses, and if for exemple you want an exemple of what canon can make as crazy flowed and good lense try the ef 28mm F/1.8 usm But don't try to pretend that your old lenses quest lead you to color fidelity that's not compatible
