I know this is an old video, but I received my Hammer at the end of December 2021. It's CRAZY accurate and unbelievably powerful. It surprised me so much, I just ordered another one. Any negative reviews you read are either uneducated about the gun or they don't own one. It's an amazing piece of engineering.

Don't forget the new Hatsan semi auto entries for 2017! In the calibers offered (.177 cal. & .22 cal.) they seem to be the best guns of the year, including all types of manufacture, and calibers. I'm not putting down the rest of the field, that's just my opinion of what I've seen. In any case, I'm waiting for the rest of you to spend your money in haste and to determine the product shortcomings (they all have them), before I go out on the limb! An example of what I'm talking about is the Sam Yang Wing Shot, that has had changes and upgrades on at least three or four occasions since it first came out! It seems that Air Venturi put it out too soon, and is not yet completely sure that it has it right? Since it originally came out, they have added a choke, a ventilated rib, and increased the amount of shot in their ammunition, not to mention revisions to the product manual regarding usage of slugs. I'm concerned that, in an effort to beat the competition, some of these companies might be putting out products prematurely - products which have not been completely vetted for their usefulness or function?

Sorry about the caliber choices, Harold, but I don't make the gun. Even so, smaller calibers equals maximum fun at minimal expense, and these semi automatic guns will burn through ammunition, so that's an important consideration. Larger calibers means fewer shots per fill, and increased cost per shot. I own almost every caliber and type of airgun that has ever been manufactured, and my choice of caliber for a semi automatic pellet gun would be the .25 caliber, due to it being very effective for small game hunting/target shooting/plinking at minimal ammunition cost.

Its nice to see a suit with actual knowledge and product experience. Most of the builder do have this, but a lot of the salesmen found in these videos at the different shows have a basic knowledge and a lot of selling experience. What an awesome information loaded 17 plus minutes. I AM going to purchase the Hammer (I have the 45 caliber Texan and I'm not disappointed with it but would like a more assured kill pcp) and the very hi-tech pellets.

Very interesting, good info Rick!! I love my Big Bores! That ammo is Airgun V-Max ammo lolI use a 110gr V-Max in my .300 Whisper for my grandsons to shoot deer. My devastating results with that ammo traveling at 2450fps than my 7mm mag traveling at 3400fps 140gr hand loaded ammo. Love that concept. The PolyMags are great Airgun ammo for predator hunting, but this new ammo is peaking my interest. Once again Thank you for this info.

2-1/2 years later, still no Hammer. Oh well, can't wait any more. Georgia just legalized air rifle for big game, so a purchase before deer season is a must. Too bad Umarex couldn't actually deliver this.

Rick.... Great interview with Steve!! I have watched four interviews with Umarex at this show in regards to the Hammer...... NO ONE bothered to ask when it was supposed to be available.... Why not? American Airgunner responded to that question in the comments below.... that it was "suppose" to be available by this (now) past fall... in time for hunting, no doubt. Here it is, January 2018.... and absolutely No trace of this gun whatsoever. It does not even show up under their "Whats New" tab on their website... So... just out of curiosity, have You... by any chance ever heard anything further on what became of the "Hammer"?..... the science behind it sure sounded great, and I'm pretty sure I know how they've managed to "unload" the trigger and the whole "firing mechanism" from internal loadings (possibly).... the "short of it" being with internally available pneumatics "balancing" everything.... but, could be wrong. : ) Keep up your usual great work and videos.... always look forward to seeing what's next from you, and subscribed to you, back when you were still back east and your daughter was not much older than "a babe in daddy's arms". : ) Time sure flies, doesn't it Rick?..... and our kids have a way of making us realise how old we really are getting.... when they proudly announce that we will soon become Grand-Parents!! Scary!!

Great looking rifle. With this performance going into mainstream production, at what point do we worry about The ATF & politicians getting involved? Also, in my experience the optics rail is too long to be unsupported, the cantilever rail is ok when short, but that looks like 9 inches. I would guess that temperature variation would make a measurable deflection appear at the tip. Stick on a high end airgun scope & rings & there's almost two pounds resting on that thing. The Sabots are a great idea, they are proven tech, bound to work well.

1. The gun is pretty cool. It's a hard choice between that and the Texan. 2. I've gone over this in depth. It's a pellet when being shot from an air rifle. 3. They need to make that ammo in .20 and make sure it works in a Blue Streak

Jake S...... 1) the Texan is real, available and proven. ...... and as for no. 3) DITTO on the .20 cal.... out of any airgun. I have Blue and Silver Streaks (several) in .20 as well as a new Weihrauch HW97KT (black on black) in .20 cal... and an older HW80 in .20 cal. That new ammo of theirs would be great to have in all four small bores.... though, may be tough to accurately execute that design in .177 due to it's physical size being so small.

I just want to point out that a 36 gr 233 delivers about 1120 fpe and for the price of that gun you could get like 2-3 savage axis in caliber much more powerful than 223

wow an impressive informational video ,but where is mine ,we are not far from 2 years ,as we know it there could be thousands waiting for there rifle ,while i wonder if i will be able to buy one for christmas near 2 years later ,seems umarex jumped the gun on this one ,2 dates for arrival have been dismissed to sold out ,an one site says 12 11/2018 back in stock ,so if the first run is not out in the hands of the customer ???? they will be back in stock ,so had i bought one i would be very disappointed ,that there in the hands of a few ,but not the majority ???????? as of yet whats up Umarex ,

All the videos you'll see that the hammers are all prototypes. Some have 2 or 3 shot mags . Some are bolt action Some are pump action.

Hey Rick! Please next time you and guys from Umarex meet... please throw them a challenge. Shrink the Hammer down to FX Wildcat-size... That valve/hammer system... semiauto and 10-30 round magazine(under the gun like most fireams)...and... .25 and up with barrel change(in Finland 0.25 is the limit without licence and paperwork)... and... shoots heavy cast lead .25 bullets accurately about 1300 fps. please? ps. love your show!

I paid $700 for my Dragonclaw .50 and $300 to get it tuned. It is one wicked , Beautiful gun but not near 700 Foot pounds.

I just checked the Airforce and the Texan gets over 500 ft/lbs depending on pellet weight. If the Hammer is reaching 700+ ft/lbs depending on pellet weight, then they are the champs!!
