TURTLE MOON FILMS - First, music bed is too high to properly here your arrogant"explanation" to what could have been a better short film. Two, the customer is always right. If many of your viewers don't get your message, then YOU failed, not the audience. Insulting the audience in your explanation just shows how spoiled, entitled and off base you are. Third, your actors did a decent job, and with a proper director, some short exposition and a "less is more" viewpoint on set design this would be a much better film. I expect much abuse from you with my post. Hopefully you will consider these and other points from other viewers, regardless of how hurt your feelings become.

I was thinking that was deliberate: until I reviewed the info-dump from the lady who spent 5% of the run-time walking: ""Hubble's com card is online" "Get me the director on the line" Cut to the shot of a comet. I think we were supposed to get that this is an important threat, but it is easy to miss if you miss the meaning of the Hubble (space telescope) line. Reasons I thought the confusion may be deliberate: They call Armageddon an "anomaly". Based on the 25 seconds of title shots, I assumed the anomaly had something to do with the sun. The later conversation between Umbra and the protagonist works really well if we assume it is an conversion between the author and audience: 8:41 "Just tell me what it looks like, OK?" Nasa people looking mildly concerned (suggesting lost of craft not loss of planet) 9:09 "I don't understand" (audience is lost too) "I know." 9:16 "That's Okay." 9:20 "That's the point" (editorial unmask?) edit: 9:21 Craft shudders 9:32-34 Something shown burning falling over a populated area. -- I assumed that was just the craft that failed to leave LEO. Tragic love story for sure, but nothing world-ending implied.

In the first couple years most of dust was very succinct and had clear reasons and stories told, and the ones that didn't had very good reason to be nebulous for artistic reasons. In the ensuing years since dust became more well known many shorts have absolutely no point nor story, and some even lack coherence entirely. Then you have a few that even have multiple part stories, where if a random person jumps in any order beyond the first it makes no sense whatsoever.

Congo Kael agreed! In the movie they state that they don’t know what the anomaly is - how would they not be able to tell it’s an asteroid years beforehand? Also - why in the world would they pick someone just because of his father’s expertise? Assuming a shuttle could really do anything about an asteroid (nuclear missiles, perhaps?) - they would send a Crew of their most capable astronauts. The plot is poor, the execution is not great (so many anachronisms in the shuttle contents, for example), and the writer responds to criticism with a lack of professionalism, grace and maturity.

There was no solar flare involved in getting to orbit as was discussed early in the video. Also no indication of why there was an apparent problem with life support.

Maybe take some of the criticisms of other people (who, no, their opinions aren't meaningless) and use them to improve and build upon your future projects, without always assuming you know better.

The explanation cannot be more annoying with the background music! The short film was really nice though (but difficult to understand, that's true).

Explained, my butt. The voiceover was *completely* drowned by the "background" "music." My experience for around the last ten years is that most of the younger audio "engineers" don't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to balancing a mix. NONE of them (alright, VERY FEW of them) seem to be able to grasp the fact that *they* can understand the voiceover because they already *know* what it says from reading it during production. The solution (especially for You Tube-type productions) is simply to grab some random dude (or dudette) who happens to be walking by and make him/her listen to it on a crappy laptop. If they can understand it, mission accomplished. If not, do it over. BTW - the vacuum tubes were an interesting if anomalous touch. Not so sure about the parking-lot PA horn speaker and the pencil sharpener. Work on it.

Well....that was a waste of time. Couldn't understand most of what he was trying to say!

5% oxygen equating to 6 minutes means that he only had 2 hours of oxygen total on this "space station" from the beginning. One could guess that his mission was supposed to be short. We don't know what his mission was so there essentially is no plot to this movie. And then the vacuum tubes and pencil sharpener. On a two hour mission with radio contact to relay data, why would he even need a pencil to begin with? I use mechanical pencils because I hate sharpening.

I am one of those 26k views. I came on the promise of sic-fi, like many others. The LOST happens after viewing it, not before! This is about feedback and critique, not criticism of the director/producer, it is about the film's story, not the person! As such is a valuable resource, and should be seen as a way of improving future films.

Thank you. I watched again and it was well done. I don't think the 'asteroid about to destroy earth' concept was really made clear and that's the problem. The opening shot of the asteroid was clear, but then the character refers to it as 'the anomaly' and they don't seem particularly freaked out but rather awed, so I started wondering if it was something like a first contact event instead of an extinction event and that question isn't really answered. Even the end could be something entering the atmosphere to make a landing, not destroy, or a projectile being fired. The open question took away from the drama instead of adding to it which is where the criticisms that I see come from, IMO. Still great acting and some great shots.

Vít Výmola the Vimeo explanation doesn’t do anything to improve the flimsy plot - and it’s condescending and rude just like his comments on this video - a person who can’t accept criticism is unlikely to improve - and he obviously cares little for the audience. Perhaps he should just film movies for his own entertainment since the rest of us are too stupid to understand his grand vision
