I'm satisfied with my US steelbook of the Raid so I won't be double dipping but I can see collectors wanting that edition from Umbrella. We've all double dipped, triple dipped, and quadruple dripped our favorite movies so I don't see anything wrong with it.

Umbrella did give a heads up that they were working on this shortly after the steelbook announcement. I would also hesitate to say people shouldn't worry about quality when buying from Umbrella. Packaging aside, both them and Imprint are known to take cheaper existing masters and put them straight to disc without any additional restoration work, unlike Arrow.

Thanks, Ken. I put my order in for Raid. I'm not a big steelbook fan, so I didn't pick up the Sony one. I actually picked up a bundle blu-ray pack from Best Buy a few months ago for $10!

I just watched The Raid for the first time yesterday, and holy shit was I missing out. I might have to pull the trigger on this version.

Lizard in Women’s Skin is fantastic and the best movie in this lot by a mile.

I used to be such a mark for gimmicky packaging, but now I put shelf space above all else. I don’t need all that swag. Just give me the movie with the best possible presentation.

Just wanted to say, Umbrella puts out some of the best 4k and bluray releases... I've double dipped on their Talk to Me and Possession. Both amazing Limited Edition's.

I wish they would just release a steelbook and a slipcover at the same time. That way it gives collectors options.

I pre-ordered the Crow Walmart Steelbook, Standard 4k Steelbook, and the Standard 4k edition. I always loved to larger than life personalities of Brandon and Bruce Lee. I own the DVD, but I never bought the standard Blu-ray. But I gotta get the 4k’s before more inflation makes these movies go up to 44.95 soon and let’s not mention the secondary market prices.

I never bought THE RAID before so maybe I'll finally cave and get this one. But I still have to snag a few more that I've been sleeping on so the price tag might be more of a problem than it otherwise would be. The double versions don't bother me that much because it's saved my bacon a few times. I missed out on Umbrella's edition of THE HITCHER so the Second Sight edition gives me another chance. What bothers me is not knowing if a 4K edition is coming out or not. Because of the region issues I don't like to buy Blus exclusively without knowing if the 4K is coming. I knew it wouldn't happen for KIDS because it was shot on Super16mm so there wouldn't be one. But TANK GIRL? PRIMER? I'd like to be sure that the edition we get is *the one to get.*

I pre-ordered Dead End Drive-In 4K from Umbrella, importing to UK. I own the Arrow Blu-ray but I want to upgrade. A fun 80s film. Mad Max meets Tromaville vibes. If you haven’t watched it check it out!

I have the Mondo Macabro edition of A Lizard in a Woman's Skin. It has the 104 minute uncut version. Umbrella's version doesn't indicate a new remastered transfer so most likely same transfer.

I've only doubled dipped oncewithout selling my old copy. I got the Game of Thrones limited edition blu-ray set and the 4k steelbook set. The Blu-ray set is a work of art so I'm keeping that one.

Confirming Blu-ray will have new color timing -- Umbrella tweeted back at me with that info so that's great news! Also, Umbrella posted on their social that a 4K collector set was coming out -- hence I waited and didn't get the steelbook. Ken - you are not trolling Reddit enuff my dude! :)

Umbrella announced they were doing The Raid 4K CE back on 1/10, about a week before the US 4K was released.

i was waiting for the steelbook to drop in price or a standard case to releases for cheaper, this is better but that price plus shipping 😢 i will probably get it

Personally ordered the Raid 4K (Slipcase version) yesterday along with the A Lizard In A Womans Skin (Slipcase BD version) from Umbrella and after some youtuber discount codes, the total was about 33€ per movie. I live in Finland so for this market, it's still a bit cheaper to import smaller packages from Australia than US but near the same. Maybe stupid to say but I don't mind that much if different labels put out same movies around same time especially if the labels are from different sides of the map because it's quite rare that I immediately want to buy the release anyway but agree that they could inform these kind of things a bit earlier to the consumers for sure.

I highly doubt Masters of the Universe will be on 4K only because they lost the original film so everything will be upscale from the DVD, I am not even going to bother with the Blu-Ray.

How can any collector find room to double dip? Shelf space is at a premium and putting two of the same film on such limited real estate seems counter productive.

I didn’t get the Raid 4k steelbook here in the states so I did preorder this new big bad box set just now as well as the other announcements. They all looked intriguing to me… Umbrella is doing some good work. Ordered some of their previous releases as well. All will be my first step into their work. Saw this. Just got my Sony steelbook not even 2 weeks ago still unopened. I'm good. Umbrella can keep their edition. They can keep their features and exclusives. Pass. I hear the transfer changes the movie completely. Its a night and day difference so I can't wait to get into my copy. And I LOVE the movie but it's not in my greatest of all time territory so double dipping makes zero sense. Had I not gotten the steelbook? Yeah, I like the movie enough to get this set.

Sorry, but I will NEVER buy any of those ugly-looking Unbrella covers with those insanely stupid RATING stickers in the lower left hand corner. Virtually nobody else makes this mess but them. Absolute BOYCOTT for me. And they're not even real stickers that I could peel off. They're permanently printed in. Total DISASTER!

Double dipping on any movie is such a waste of money. And totally unnecessary unless the film is going from bluray to 4k but even that you don't necessarily need to buy a film in 4k just bc the film got a 4k release. And not every single film needs a 4k release. Bc if you look at the market sales between blurays & 4ks the blurays still sell more copy's then 4ks do.And buying multi copies of the same film just bc of the slip covers differant from the last release and that is the biggest waste of money
