In this episode, we are looking at Flowering Apricot or Ume or Prunus Mume. During the early Winter months Ume are the first to flower and in Japanese culture is the harbingers of Spring. As of the filming it is early January and most of my umes are either starting to flower or in full bloom. We will go over some basic timeline on when certain techniques are used to maintain its shape. We will also go over a technique on telling if a flowering apricot will flower when there is no bloom buds available to view.
