You guys missed the beginning when Rhaenrya was touching the necklace that Daemon gave her as she was listening to suitors. Then the excitement she had when realizing Daemon was arriving in Kings Landing. She has feelings for her uncle.

The blood of the dragon is just like what viserys described, restless and chaotic. They are basically neurotic and bound to do risky things from their genes not to mention the sheltered life they are raised in exacerbates it.

I can't say what is worse, being blind to what is going on around you, or seeing and knowing, and choosing to do nothing about it. The fact that Viserys showed that he does understand what is going on in his court, makes the fact that Otto has had so much room to manuever that much more damning. I know the king doesn't wish to rock the boat, but really...how can you let such games go on, knowing that they will hurt the people you love?

Even then the Targaryens are known for incest. Even daemon parents and his grandparents was siblings. Daemon stopped because he felt guilt with trynna use rhaenyra to mess with his brother that’s why he stopped from having sex with her but he also did it so viserys would marry him and rhaenyra but it didn’t work.

The Targaryens aren’t from that area so they are considered outsiders. Valyria was their home and it was mysteriously suddenly hit by disaster. Those that were lucky to not be there are the last of them and conquered the seven kingdoms

I think yall shouldn't have forgotten that Targaryens wed brothers and sisters even from the lore mentioned in Game of Thrones lol. They marry into their family as close as possible. Viserys wasn't bothered by incest like when Otto tried to betroth Aegon to Rhaenyra, or Daemon trying to marry Rhaenyra. He's bothered about the fact that both Aegon and Rhaenyra are still too young or in Rhaenyra's case, still a child in his eyes.

Targaryens keeping it in the family isn't new. It's literally what they've endeavoured to do and really, they branched out very seldom in the 200 years they ruled for. It doesn't just consolidate their power; the more they dilute their blood, the less they can connect with dragons. Leading the audience who actually pays attention to assume that Valyrian culture itself promoted this custom--and looking at the marriage of Corlys and Rhaenys, also cousins, cements this as fact. And seeing as the Targaryens are modelled after the Ptolemies of Egypt... lmao. Don't be surprised. And you're one of very very few who are either surprised or grossed out.

The Blackwoods and the Brackens are ancient enemies but they both fought for Robb Stark. The Blackwoods are GRRM's favorite house and they often are seen on the "Right side of history". The Blackwoods were the last house in the Riverlands to surrender after Robb died.

There are many houses that are still alive even in game of thrones like house blackwood, house velaryon, house celtigar, house hightower. Some kind of decline due to the war of the ninepenny King or during robert rebellion.

Vhaegar was one of the original three dragons, on which Aagon the Conqueror and his two-sister wives rode during their conquest of Westeros. Actually, Vhaegar was the smallest of those three, so just imagine the size of the biggest one, Balerion the Black Dread.

I agree with you that Daemon’s deepest desire would be for his brother to name him his Hand. I think that moment in the first episode, where he is eavesdropping on the Small Council, and Daemon smirks when Viserys says he doesn’t want the crown is because his brother really does know him best. But Daemon yearns to have his brother show that he has trust in him. of course his behavior is often the cause of making that such a hard thing to do. George R.R. Martin has said that Daemon Targaryen is his favorite Targaryen. There is a quote about him in one of the books that I really love. “He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains.” Seems like a good description to me. And it is why he is a character so many people love to watch, whatever you think about him.

Daemon did what he did to ruin Rhaenyra’s image. He even took off their hats to show off where they were because he just wanted power and so Rhaenyra had no other option. It’s not that Rhaenyra really even would love him, it’s that he groomed her to love him and want him (Mild spoilers?) Also, this wasn’t the first nor will be the last time time he wants to fuck someone half his age

So I don't see that anyone has explained this- but "blood of the dragon" actually refers back to the blood magic done in Valyria that gave the Targaryens the ability to claim and bond with the dragons; essentially, they *are* part dragon. They actually go through a period of time while they're growing in the womb where they resemble dragons- hence why all premature Targaryen babies look that way regardless of how closely related their parents are. In addition, it also literally attracts them to each other- thinking of it like cats go with cats, dragons go with dragons, humans go with humans and Targaryens want to go with Targaryens is the best way I can suggest to make that make sense lol. Is that also what makes them a little uh, "off"? Yeah, they're uncontrollable just like the dragons too! Editing to add a TL;DR- "blood of the dragon" basically means Targaryens are borderline just dragons in human form (over-simplified but gets the point across lol)

Viserys and Daemons mother and father were brother and sister, they loved each other deeply. Viserys and Daemon's grandfather King Jahaerys was married to his sister, they too loved each other dearly. I believe they even eloped.

You somewhat noticed it in the first episode but Daemon seems to make a habit of confessing to things he didn’t do like when they were discussing Daemon speaking ill of Baelon they never showed him saying it yet he confessed because he knows what they think of him and doesn’t care it keeps them further from knowing his true motives and actions PS it also allows him to see peoples personal opinion of him given what they are willing to believe about him

Daemon: *Is inappropriately sitting on the Iron Throne in the very first scene we see him Daemon: *celebrates his own nephew dying, thereby securing his place as heir Daemon: *Tries to marry Rhaenyra in order to become the King Audience: "Hmmm, I'm not sure if Daemon wants the Crown?"

Kill his wife? No, Daemon would never do such thing

How can u say Jon did nothing in the end. He was the one who united westeros to defeat the dead. & was the only one who could pass Drogon and stop Dany, saving the realms of men yet again. Jon has always been the prince who was promised in my eyes, regardless of him becoming king of 7 kingdoms. Hes always been the selfless hero, never caring for power but took it seriously whenever he did have that responsibility.

I would say the Targs "blood of the dragon" are very impulsive. Dany and even Jon you see it on battle of the bastards and beyond the wall. They cant really control emotions very well

Septan Barth(he is in fire and blood) mentioned that the Valryians(Targaryens, Velaryon, Celtigars etc) were sorta like mad scientists that made genetic chimeras and that they themselves could be one as well. Being blood of the dragon means that you can ride dragons, have a resistance to heat (not fireproof that's only Daenerys and a one time thing at that in the books at least). Being blood of the dragon means that they can never get sick, normal incest issues do not follow them. Moreover the madness itself is not linked to the incest and that there have been like 5 mad Targaryens and they had different reasons for it

That prophecy is likely more for the books than the show. Though Jon and Daenerys were pivotal in destroying the White Walkers, the books aren't there yet and will have a different route and end.

I loved seeing Kings Landing on a friday night

Another layer to this episode is the baby princess. Notice at the end of the last episode how Aegon got 2 nurses with him all the time, Alicent looked rested and comfortble. One baby girl later no nurses for her and just immediadly pushed for queen to nurse the baby. It's certainly a contrast that shows how little women are valued in here.

Rheyneras parents were brother and sister so for most people it’s normal. Of course there are some people in Westro who are not like Alicent.

Notice Viserys doesn't say he'll take the tongue of whomever told about Rhaenyra and Daemon (the tongue that told the "lies"), but instead the eyes of whoever told about them (the eyes that witnessed the truth). It just shows that he does, on some level, believe Otto.

Blackwoods and Brackens hate each other. Like what you saw was not very far out of the norm. They never really need an excuse to kill one another. If 1 of them fights on X side. The other will fight on Y side just for the opportunity to kill them. The idea of Blackwood and Bracken agreeing on anything is ludicrous.

The Targaryen family tree is complicated and filled with incest. Viserys and Daemon's parents were siblings. As were Jaehaerys and Alysanne, their grandparents. Aemma Arryn was a cousin of Viserys and Daemon. Just like Rhaenys (who married the Sea Snake,) Laenor and Rhaenyra are 2nd cousins (they share 2 common great grandparents) A niece marrying an uncle is unusual, but not unheard of. Daemon was suggesting taking Rhaenyra as a 2nd wife. Whilst the incest is very frowned upon, bigamy is a major no-no. Maegor the Cruel married multiple women and most of the realm turned on him and made Jaehaerys King. Before the Targaryens ruled Westeros it was fairly common for them. Aegon the Conqueror was married to both his sisters.

The prophecy did came true. Jon Snow was the one who united the kingdoms against the cold and the white walkers. Regarding Otto, he's not evil, but he's not likeable. He, as a father found a good and honest man to marry his daughter, one who happens to be the most powerful person in the kingdom. He also worries, and with reason, that the people won't accept a woman as a ruling queen. He's also right about that. Like it or not, beyond his manipulations, his motives are understandable and even justifiable. I still don't like him, but I do understand where he's coming from. Guys, the prophesied threat from the North that would eventually conquer the world was Danni's fanatical army and her remaining dragon after she defeated the Night King. John Snow was Azor Ahai / the prince that was promised BECAUSE he killed Danni before she could conquer the rest of Essos. (Remember, she aleady had Westeros, which is half of the known world.)

Yes there is a sibling rivalry and he actually looks up to his brother and admires him to a degree but that admiration is also a jealousy and obsession, for him his biggest motivation is the biggest thing he is jealous of and that’s the crown, 100% his end game is to be king and everyone else that he interacts with is just a pawn is his game. He knew what he was doing throughout the events of this episode, everything with him taking out Rhaenyra out, making her watch the theatrical performance, knowing how the crowd reaction would be and enjoying watching her reaction to it, to taking her to the brothel and putting on a performance where he knew there were witnesses, where he knew there were “little birds” who would report what they saw and it would get back to the King. He knew if word got round that she was no longer pure, that would make her damaged goods to any suitors, in the mind of Viserys anyway and therefore making his offer to marry Rhaenyra a more attractive offer to Viserys, it’s all cleverly constructed movement of the pieces so that he can make his checkmate move, which in his eyes is to be crown the King, that is ultimately all Daemon cares about, everything and everyone else is just him positioning himself, that’s how I read it anyway, I guess we will see as the story develops and his character and motivations are played out

Really annoys me when they say Jon and didn't do anything... He brings Daenerys' army to winterfell, and he kills Daenerys who ends up being a tyrant....I get not liking the ending, but this idea that snow did nothing in the end is just inaccurate.
