It sucks too because he has interesting tech for dealing with Dark Phoenix incoming but he made so many mistakes even that didn't matter.

Not exactly. Infrit did style a little against FChamp during the Grand Finals, but after Ryan got the reset from losers, he spent about 30 seconds playing with his hands "calling on the powers" in an imitation of Dormammu. So Champ was also a bit disrespectful.

That's not to say I necessarily approve of Champ's behavior. Both my friend and I agree that the way too many people act in the FGC is reprehensible and a big part of the reason why our community doesn't grow more. But I actually got a chance to see Champ play live at the NW Majors and he seemed rather civil; didn't even posture after he won the tournament. Also gave me his autograph without any posturing. I think he's a good guy underneath the act, and context is needed to fully understand it.

I agree with you, but there's a difference between trash talking and unnecessary trash talking. Champ kicked Infrit when he was down. If FChamp loses, he'll complain about it till next year, but nobody kicks him while he's down. They take the high road. I love it when FChamp does this, but at the same time it's kicking when down :/

While no one can really tell whether FChamp's attitude is genuine or not, it's still a personal choice to the viewer to be affected by it or not, to rage at him about it or to take it all in stride. What can't be denied is that it certainly adds drama and interest to a match. It's hella fun to watch people clamor for him to lose, but when the camera stops rolling, and the game's over, let it go already.

I went up to him, asked if he'd mind giving me his autograph, he said sure, and signed his name over Dormammu's picture in my instruction manual To argue that someone isn't humble because someone comes up and ASKS for his/her autograph is an oversimplification. If someone came up and asked for MY autograph I'd give it without hesitation. That doesn't mean I'm not humble; it means I'm giving someone something they asked for. To NOT give the autograph would be rude

I like Fchamp. Attitude and all. When you are at the top of anything sometimes its ok to talk smack. Its adds excitement to your matches but only when you back it up. And that dude, Champ, is the fuckin man when it comes to umvc3.

I wonder if maybe Champ was having a bad day. Because as disrespectful as he was, he seemed genuinely pissed off that they asked him to play Infrit and he bodied him so easily. It's extremely rude and Champ is arrogant--no argument there--but to me it seemed like he was more upset at the crowd for asking him to play him than trying to put Infrit "in his place."

Well I think it's actually a little more complicated than that. Yes, Champ was being an asshole after this match was over, but I happen to know someone--goes by Ebonic Plague--who was at that tournament. (I actually loaned him the money to go.) When I asked him about Champ's posturing, not only did he inform me that it was an act--and that FChamp actually enjoys playing the heel in the community--but that Infrit was aware of it too. So more than likely Infrit wasn't offended by Champ's BS.

...for the sake of doing it, it's with a smile on his face or some kind of gesture. (See EVO 2012) I still think it's uncalled for and really rude, especially considering Infrit almost beat him at EVO 2012, but frankly Infrit wasn't getting the job done like he should have. Plus Infrit's demeanor isn't necessarily respectful. That's actually just the way he is. Whether he loses or wins a round he stays completely calm and shows nothing. Damn the end. I was about to hit back for Spooky videos but fuck Champ. I honestly think we knew what could say. The games said it all and not just the flaw execution but the teabagging and commentary told the story. No one needed to hear that crap at the end. It's funny how flawless he played here but made so many questionable mistakes at Evo. Nerves or not because the guy was talking about how he still believes he is a shoe in to win it.

In evo2012, Champ wrecked Infrit making him look like he made it to finals by luck. Infrit's problem is he has no character knowledge of his team and only focuses on getting his TAC combo which makes his decision making very predictable. He never maximized his damage with Nova, dropped his combos, and doesn't use the tools he has. Just watch Evo2012 grand finals. That's the only reason people know him. I'd feel disrespected too if I fought him.
