If I can find another rusted out gun I'd love to work on it. Hopefully that dirty river has a few more treasures hidden in its murky depths. Thank you so much for watching, for your comments and for the sub.

very good to see I first got an SKS for 3 bens abt 2 yrs ago and removed the rhino-liner looking cammo via spray-on paint stripper which bubbled up the old paint then many of the same other measures you used then finished w/ stain and tung oil rub

To remove imperfections between coats you might try 'brass-wool', Not 'steel-wool' because tiny bits of steel will imbed into the finish and rust. Any tiny bits of brass won't rust/less of an issue. Other that that, 'nice job'! You have inspired others to immulate your process.

1. I love how you have so many chapters and timestamps on this. 2. ***THANK YOU FOR REMOVING THE SINS OF BUBBA!!!!!*** 3. Is it weird I just got done putting on a good finish on my SKS right before I started watching this? 4. What do you plan on doing with the destroyed stock of the original? I saw some ideas about resin which would be cool if you made a clear resin so you can see the original underneath. I however know nothing about resins and such so this may not be possible. I'm just an armchair gunnut boogaloo boy.
@CRoutdoor
@CRoutdoor 2 жыл бұрын
Haha, what kind of finish did you put on yours? I dont know much about resins or epoxies much either so I plan on keeping it all original. I think the rough/rotted stock completes the look with the pitted, rough metal.

Thank you, and hello in Germany! I'm not sure exactly what you mean by shaft oil. Whatever oil you use it needs to be a wood finish. Something like boiled linseed oil, tung oil, any oil made for wood. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I already own 2 near perfect condition SKS rifles. I wanted a bubba'd one to play with a few years back, and someone was selling one for $300. Well, this moron gets some shitty advice to go buy a wooden stock for it and now wanted $400, when that $300 bubba price was perfect and exactly what I wanted. It probably took him years to be able to sell that rifle after that. Maybe sold it during COVID I would guess.
@CRoutdoor
@CRoutdoor Жыл бұрын
Well, you could do what I did and try to go find one for free in a river somewhere haha. Bubba'd or not, they are very robust reliable rifles. I just have a thing for the classic wood. I'll bet the 2 you mentioned are quite the sight and definitely catch some eyes. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Do you work for Big-Epoxy or something? This is like the third video of you saying to use epoxy. I'm just playin, but I take it you really like epoxy. Nothing wrong with that, different strokes for different folks. Oil type finishes are what I like so that's what I use. Thanks for watching my vids and for your comments.
