Such a small amount of wine like the postman has in his short break is still ok in France and some other countries. In many Western countries which call themselves 'tolerant' you could instantly loose your job.

LE facteur de la poste....en poste pour 10, 15, ou 20 ans au même endroit, et qui "boit son coup", les lamelles en plastique multicolores, devant , et à la place de la porte, le bouche qui part "en tournée". Mon dieu...que de souvenirs.

Excellent les bouteilles de vin dans le seau au fond du puit !! c'est ça aussi la france !! et un facteur qui sifflote en faisant sa tournée...ça ,se voit plus ça.

Le même endroit, en 2024 : des panneaux partout ( "50" (km/h) ; " Zone 30" ; "école" ; "voie lente" ; "ralentissez" ; etc etc), des ralentisseurs, des barres de fer pour empêcher les gens de se garer à cheval sur trottoir ET route; pour LA route centrale : deux voies vélo (une pour chaque sens) , une voie piéton, une voie voiture ; une voie bus ; une église fermée et pour laquelle on se demande si la destruction ne serait pas "une solution" ; une mosquée toute neuve ; des personnes âgées seules chez elle regardant BFM ; à l'entrée du village : un point de deal ; un cimetière que plus personne ne fleurit ( surtout pas à la Toussaint parce que ..." on prépare Halloween pour les gamins, alors on n'a pas le temps"); bref....la "France" d'aujourd'hui....

Nous sommes en 1979 : Giscard est président, R.Barre est 1er ministre , Cloclo est mort un an plus tôt, la Grande Sécheresse, c'était 3 ans plus tôt, et Mitterrand sera président 2 ans plus tard. En Décembre, Sheila sort ce qui sera un tube planétaire :" Spacer"...

At 15:32 at the cemetery scene, the name of one town Pressignac is on the tombstone. Not sure if this is the town this footage was shot in but if it is, it's a small town in western France in the central/southern part of the country, just to the left of Limoges on the map.

@@guyinsf I checked in street view, it's not Pressignac. The town in this video is bigger as you can see in 18:26. But it's a clue. The movie is wonderful, I watched it twice. Its atmosphere is great. Very nostalgic.

At 20:24 there are road signs for Tremolat, Lalinde and Le Buisson, and after a bit of detective work on google maps, the church first seen at 00:49 exactly matches Eglise Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens in Sainte-Alvère, which is about 10km from Tremolat. At 04:39 Place du Chateau also exactly matches Place du Chateau in Sainte-Alvère. The buildings at that spot seem to have hardly changed in all that time. Great video 🙂

@@IainRayYT Bingo! It's that place. I checked a few characteristic places from the film. They can be easily found in street view. A road with a bend next to a cemetery where motorcyclists go, a bakery, a view of the city from the hill, and most importantly - the church and the square in front of it, this is the town! :) The square in front of the church has changed a lot over the years. The statue of a soldier has disappeared, many trees have grown, new buildings have been built in this already cramped development. I admit that I was looking for cities closer to Pressignac, which was a clue. Meanwhile, there are 97 kilometers between these cities. Thanks for the solution :)
