Una is a song written in 2009 as we witness the life and struggle of the lumad (indigenous peoples in Mindanao) in defending their communities against the encroachment of foreign and large-scale mining corporations. Many lumad communities organize themselves and united to resist against development aggressions and militarization of their ancestral lands.
Una is a Filipino word that means "first", it represents the assertion of the lumad as the first inhabitant to be the stewards of their ancestral lands and the environment.

Came back here after a year... This song really reminds us what it means to be a Filipino. Protecting our communities from oppression and discrimination. Fight together rather than give pointless promises to our corrupted country... I just think it's very sad that Mindanao is poorly presented in Filipino mainstream media. We are not just about wars. We are full of diverse cultures, people, and languages. Yet we're united under one name, kayumanggi. I don't even trust the government anymore. They're focusing on the wrong thing instead of helping it's nation to rise prosperously.

Mabuhay! Proud Mindanawan po ako! Nakapatama yung lyrics po, nauna talaga ang mga IP at may karapat-dapat po sila sa ancestral domain nila. You're the window to our past history, at kung noo'y kastila ang nagnanakop ng lupa't ginto sa'tin, ngayon pala ay ang sariling kakapwa natin Pilipino. Bad talaga ang greed. Tulad din po ako sa inyo-- an artist, na pintor. Nais ko sana bumuo ng isang fictional komiks na ang setting ay (pinaka)sinauhang panahon ng Pilipinas. The past few months gumawa ako ng mga pananaliksik sa mga katutubo at salamat din dahil dito na-inspire ako tuloy! Amping lang!
