Thank you Jake, these budget hotels are great but there’s something magical about experiencing Japanese culture as part of the accommodation and dining. I love that your videos are straight to the point and brimming with information, arigatou gozaimasu.

Went Japan last month and in Kyoto, we stayed in Hotel GOCO. Nice place with friendly boss and staffs. Very near many shopping area and Nishiki market is just less than a minute away. Thank you for your recommendation. 😊

Even though I might splurge a little, it was interesting to see what's available at budget prices. In a recent trip to Switzerland, not only the prices were much higher compared to what you were showing for budget hotels in Japan, they also didn't have any check-in staff even during regular business hours. I'm wondering how do you check-in at these places. Do you still have people or is it just through mobile phones etc.

Each hotels have attendant check-in counters, I did the procedure as usual. Thank you for your comment!

@@liljapan That's good to know. Don't take me wrongly, but I see in you the rare potential to be the KZfaqr who doesn't boast how he "drinks matcha tea made from Japanese soft water". A famous US professor spent his whole life teaching "Relevance" - true for regular products, and in my opinion, true for KZfaq. I'm just an old man lucky to be alive coming to a fabled land, after visiting over 50 countries, for the first time without getting overwhelmed and I'm grateful the streets are safe. Rest is gravy.
