Well the Zoroastrians disposed off their dead by taking them to high tower. The dead man was given last 'ghusal' in the deceased house. Afterwards 'Janaza' funeral was brought at the foot of the tower of silence(Dokhma Sakoon) - here last rites of the dead were performed with prayers by the chief priest (the rooms seen below in ruins were for the purpose) later dead body was carried by at least three relatives of kin along with priest to the top where there was a place with an apse in the middle already dug out a meter. This round place had a wooden ladder on which the body was placed naked(cloth removed) after few words of prayers - the relatives or kin along with priest left. Soon afterwards vultures who were accustomed with bodies, would devour every part of the flesh within an hour because they would flock in big numbers. Then after three days the relatives would revisit the place and would find only a skeleton - it was then taken down - the bones would be flexed and placed for further completion of dryness - then on the fortieth day the relatives would come other friends and even women for the final disposal of the skeleton to be placed in a box or ossuary. The grand ceremony of prayers with small or big banquet was held according to the status of the deceased person. Sometimes the ossuary or box would be left behind or taken to be placed in the home garden or a tomb.
