Love your tutorials. You are not just very skilled and knowledgeable but love your personality and the way you explain things. I'm a "Covid Long Hauler" who has been in recovery for literally 2 years after having severe Covid in May 2020 and July/August 2021. I was in isolation most of that time after very long hospitalizations only to lose my upper teeth and right jaw from lack of oxygen and blood flow during my last illness. I have 2 or 3 more surgeries (already had 2). to reconstruct my jaw starting this week and even when I'm not physically able to sew, I spend a lot of time each day watching KZfaq tutorials and planning projects for the future. That and my faith in God and online Bible studies have been my lifeline so THANK YOU!

God bless you, Teresa. What a challenging ordeal you've been through physically and emotionally these last couple years. I'll be praying Psalms 91 over you for your surgeries and during your recovery. Please let me know how you're doing after surgery. I'm honored that you choose my videos to watch. Send me any quilting requests you have as I'd love to demonstrate something special for you. I'm in GA, are you nearby? Thank you for watching and I can't wait to see your quilts when you're sewing again. Blessings to your and your family, Lea Louise

This reminded me of years ago our quilt guild had a project making a scrappy Log Cabin. Each member that participated were to bring two large size grocery bags with one each of lights and the other with dark strips cut to size. They were all dumped into a large box and mixed around and each member got to grab arm fulls of each then make the quilt top. Years went by and I sold my home to downsize ..the buyer stated they would buy the house if I left that quilt plus another hanging in my house. Naturally I wanted to resist but my family said”mom, you can make more quilts”. So yes I sold my home😂

I have a tip for keeping super long joined strips tidy. I use it for elastic well. Grab a wine bottle or large soda bottle. Take one end, hold it in place in the middle, then start winding your mega strips around the bottle. You can then place it handy to your machine, have it unwind and not get any twisted knots or ruin you ironed fabric. Also use a cardboard tube for storing premade strips of binding ready to use. Easy to see what colours and how much you have. Being able to pin or clip in place.

This is one of my favorite batik collections ever, Noelle! It called 'Here There' by Marcia Derse for Anthology Fabrics. I bought it from The Modern Quilter shop on ETSY. The large dot pattern is called Watercolor River Rock. Here's the original quilt tutorial [kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6yEqdiXudy7pJc.html] I made with the fat quarter collection. I have never done log cabin but I like what you are doing what do you think as fill in blocks
@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise Жыл бұрын
If you've never sewn a log cabin, Sharon, this is a fun one to begin with! It goes together easily and is perfect for lots of different fabrics mixed together. Since these blocks are set on-point you do need to use side-setting triangles. Those are the blocks cut in half diagonally that fill in the sides. You'll need a slightly larger block than those used in the quilt. Once assembled, simply trim the side blocks to even out your quilt top. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

What fabric collection are you using? It is beautiful! thank you for sharing and I look forward to more. I just started Foundation PP after avoiding it. I'm. not certain why...but I finally used the method and love it. My scrap pile is not a mountain...it is a mountain range because I enjoy cutting with my accuquilt without even having a project sometimes. I try to throw away the smaller pieces just to come back and take them out of the trash. I wish there was a place to send for recycle, but I have heard they can go into compost since they are just cotton. I would not use them in a garden...but on flowers should be fine.

Yes, Mary! I've gone back and pulled fabric out of the 'trash pile' before, too! There are some beautiful collage quilting done with those small, odd shaped pieces, and it looks like fun. But I still have too many fat quarters to start something new! LOL My quilts are generally a collection of different fabrics as it's all about color for me. The fabrics in this quilt are all strips left from other projects. Many are Hoffman Bali Batiks, plus there are some Beyond the Reef Batiks and and Here:There Batiks from Windham Fabrics. So glad you joined me and enjoyed my tutorial! Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I’m going out of business the last three years! I’m resorting to donating a lot. I would be happy to send you a grab bag for your charity quilts and put some goodies in as prizes for your channel. I want to make the log cabin Eleanor Burns sister made with florals and greens. It’s in a video but I don’t know how to achieve that look. It kinda looks like a Monet painting or a water color. You are so incredibly generous to make an offer like that, Mary! Mentioning Monet really caught my attention! Do you know the name of the video? I tried looking for it but no luck. I'd love to attempt making the quilt if I could see it. Most of my fabrics are batiks and don't think that would work. If you have some fabrics and can direct me to the video I'd love to give it a try and record a tutorial! 😍 There are some homebound subscribers to my channel who love quilting but due to their limitations can't get out for fabric and supplies. I'd love to make that connection for you. YES! Some grab bags for prizes would be so awesome and such fun. It's also be nice to have charity quilt grab bags too. They absolutely are, Mary. BUT, you can change up the sizes as you go as long as each finished block measures the same. Hope you get a chance to give this one a try! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

This is a work in progress, Pam and I couldn't get the entire block included. The next video will include images of the blocks before they're cut and then how they all get pieced together. It's a fun project and I love all the fabrics mixed together! Appreciate you watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Thanks for your input, Rebecca, I appreciate your comment. I love to share my quilting and do get a bit carried away at times. Though I do have lots of beginner quilters following along and try to share tips that will benefit them as well. Thank you very much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I appreciate you input, Joan. My goal is to teach the how-to of quilting and explain the various individual options every quilter has. We can all follow a pattern and make lots of blocks, but there's more than that. Gaining confidence to try something new knowing that it may take a few repetitions is important for all quilters. For me it's all about the journey and enjoying the multitude of beautiful fabrics we have to choose from! All that matters is that we enjoy the quilting process. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to share quilting with so many. While I understand your desire to see results, I enjoy sharing the story that any given quilt provides. Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
