This solves the main problem of DLP projectors - contrast, while retaining all their strong sides, sharpness and motion. If someone managed to make a consumer version with 2 cheap sequential DLP chips it would be revolutionary. Even the cheapest DarkChip1 1000:1 DMDs would result in mind blowing 1000000:1 contrast. And you can even use just a 720p or XGA secondary DMD for contrast, the result would still be out of this world. It would make LCD and LCoS projectors obsolete. Please someone make it already.

If I was a multi-millionaire I would likely purchase this projector. As it is, at $400,000, it's outside of my price range for a home theater. Next best thing is arguably the JVC NX9 (or NZ9), which is my dream home theater. Working to build one up soon!

That image quality was like next level stuff. I think OLED is probably the best word to use to describe how good that image quality is. How good was the sound in your opinion? I know it’s at a trade show and not the same as a more controlled home theater, but I have heard rave reviews of Lingdorf prepros and their room perfect software.
@acelakid94 Жыл бұрын
I’m curious how they control the lumen level for individual pixels. Wonder how many years it’ll be for that kind of tech to trickle down to projectors under 10k. I know it’s just recorded video, but on my oled phone the blacks looked absolutely black. Looked like it was off, very impressive. I can’t imagine what it looked like in person.
@keepingupwiththejones2933 Жыл бұрын
We should only be waiting about 25 years for technology patents to expire😭🤣
@robcohen Жыл бұрын
It's a 6 chip DLP, with 2 chips per color. By passing through 2 chips, it multiplies the contrast ratio for each chip. This requires a giant projector with a super bright light source. No clue how they can do that cheaply.

@@robcohen Advances in laser tech and some neat unused methods of optics? Or maybe even some unforeseen developments in other tech fields that leads to a cost effective version? We’ll do it…………..eventually. Lol

I think it might be quicker than we think. With bigger oled panels coming to market at more affordable prices will eat into projector space and either they will want to move into even more niche space with expensive projectors like this or they will lover the price substantially to keep existing market share.

Specifically the Christie Eclipse utilizes patented 6DLP dual dmds technology whereby one set of 3DLP DMDs produces the RGB image, whilst a second set of 3DLP DMDs act as pixel level luminance control light modulators

Will this tech eventually trickle down to smaller models? Like most home theatre's only need 3000 lumens max, 3000 lumens is bright as he'll, and if it has perfect blacks then cobtrast would be as good as oled

Did you get to see it with/without MadVR? I would be curious how a projector at this crazy price point stands on its own without external video processing.

I Think this 6 DMD Chip Technic ( 2 Chip Technic) could be the Future for best Image in Hometheaters. Better in all Ways as for example reflectiv LCDs (at the Moment the Campion in Contrast and Blacklevels). Maybe. We will see. I Wonder one DMD Device Price is under 200 Dollar. 0.47-Inch diagonal micromirror array - 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) display resolution - 5.4-µm micromirror pitch - ±17° micromirror tilt (relative to flat surface) Maybe we have a Chance in the Future for best Picture in Homecinema for much Customers.

How long do you think this will take to transition down to sub-$10,000 level projectors? It's crazy to think about how quickly we've progressed in the last 20 years when it comes to what I would call "high end enthusiast" levels of technology. You can get the quality of a $100K system from 15 years ago in a $25K system now if you do things correctly.

Why the MadVR with something so special as the Christie Eclipse.? Surely the law of diminishing returns applies to this setup. But yet again if you could afford the CE then a MadVR would be like spare change.

Believe it or not, systems like this are usually commercially installed. In homes, not so much. Especially not these specific units. In home is dominated by custom install and more widely marketed brands. This type of thing you will see in a theater hall, upscale hotel, private school, resort, luxury brand hq, luxury media/marketing companies lounge, etc. The projector especially, most would go gryffin over eclipse in home. Just my observations after doing MANY installs of this caliber.
