I would recommend saving a little bit more and getting a 70's or 80's japanese rick copy because they are made very well and acheive the rick sound, and some even have Rick-O-Sound.

It is a copy after all. I'm sure they went with dot inlays because it's cheaper to manufacture and to avoid similarity for potential copyright

They come and go in batches unless you are talking about Firefly infringing on Rickenbacker's trademark which they are not anymore than Jackson and the Jacksonbacker or Harley Benton.

Well, they did have it back. And I bought it, and I love it. It's a beast of a bass. Feels rock solid, it sounds great. I need to get the string height adjusted, but other than that, it's exactly what I wanted.

@@ehdforlife This bass is great for the money. I don't think it will ever sound like a Rickenbacker due to the scale length and pickup positions but this bass has a lot of upgrade potential depending on how much you want to put into it.

@@ehdforlife the scale length is advertised to be 34" but it comes up 33" 1/8 if you didn't know..

You say "it's got some weight too" as if that's a good thing. It isn't. It is impossible (because physics) for it to help with tone and it makes it less playable/less comfortable to play. I'm not sure how anyone can stand to play that non-offset body with the high squared horn while sitting down. I mean this is a fun bass to pretend that you own a Ric, but Ric basses just aren't that special to begin with. Firefly makes great replicas for the money. If you really want one of these for your wall, go for it. But get a Fender-style bass to actually play.
