For the autumn equinox you should add more cork bark and hiding places to their enclosure! The males are aggressive and will kill other smaller isopods and if stressed out enough, will kill gravid females. Beautiful setups though!!

I didn’t show their setup in this but I did give them a larger tub than the others with some cork and a lot more leaves!! Thank you for the tips though I might go add more cork just in case lol

I love SmugBug! And I admit that I am one of those nutbag that just dropped a few hundred on a new Cubaris sp. Lemon Blue colony recently. Isopods of all kinds are so much fun. You'll love keeping them. My absolute favorites are dairy cows, rubbery duckies and my lemon blues.

I use to play with isopods as a kid! Never knew they were a hobby until recently 😂. Called them rollie pollies back in the day as a kid.

I love isopods! For some reason, I always struggle with them. I've had my current bins set up for a few months now and they're all doing pretty good and reproducing so 🤞 I finally figured it out!

i have lavas myself! they breed crazy fast, i got 20 of them from an expo a couple months ago and i have at least 50 now, probably more!

I have a 2 gal tub I call my food tray. Everything in it is from my back yard. It's 1/2" of gravel with 6" of soil on top. various types of bark from the trees, mostly oak and maple leaves. I'm breeding two types of earthworm, three species of millipede (That I've seen). Three species of slug, three species of snail, five species of isopods, and two very small species of centipede. All to feed two common toads a yellow spotted salamander with a bad attitude and an assortment of carnivorous plants. They all do very well in the community tub and it's as close to their natural environment that I can get. Not sure why more people don't try this.

I would very much be interested in how you set this up. I would love to start one like that. I have two types of salamanders and 5 tree frogs and two different types of toads.

@@danastrong1747 Well, I pretty much explained it. all you need is listed in my first post. Everything in it I collected from my own back yard. You're simply moving the environment into the tub. One thing, If your pets aren't from the same environment or pet store purchased, DO NOT feed wild caught insects or anything else to them. The risk of parasites and diseases your pets could be exposed to isn't worth it.

I'm so jealous oaijfoidsgoinngfhodrgiorgn I'm clawing at the walls rn I have a hyperfixation on isopods (ik this was a year ago) and I'm in a country where cool and rare isopods aren't avalible!! >:( I'm tempted to move to a different country JUST for isopods...
