We are unboxing Roland's RP-701 in black. There are some assembly that needs to be done, but it is actually pretty straight forward. We recommend being at least two people when assembling the instrument especially when the top part needs to be lifted on top of the stand.
All you need for equipment is a screwdriver, and you are good to go.
Roland RP-701 is a great stylish and compact instrument that is perfect for the small room without compromising on sound and feel. It comes with Roland's acknowledged PHA-4 key action for a authentic piano feel and is also equipped with 12 W speakers that delivers a clear and warm sound.

Looks like you put the big panel in backwards - isn't the wood grain side supposed to face out?

Guys shouldn't tighten the screws when putting the paddle board and the side boards together on the first step. This made it hard to install the board back and might scratch the finish.

Does RP-701 sound better than F-701 because of the cabinet?

I've looked at a ton of reviews of both. The F-701 sounds "brighter" whereas the RP-701 has a more "mellow" sound. The keyboards are exactly the same, so it's the influence of the cabinets and speaker placement that makes the difference. Both have 2x12w 12cm (4 ¾") speakers, and both sound better with headphones.

@@imaginarypersonandfriend The RP-701 is only 6mm wider and looks nicer, so I'm going to go with that one.
