My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

i know it's an older video, but as i am seeing it i am more exited about getting my first HP ProLiont DL360 G8 tomorrow :) i have been working with an IBM 3650 M3 since a year, but it makes too much noise (apartment use) and i don't want a fan modding on it ;) i am exited to see the difference between those 2 servers since the HP will have better hardware on it ;)
@MyPlayHouse
@MyPlayHouse 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthias Völlger Interesting,, the DL360 G8 is a 1U server, where the x3650 M3 is a 2U server,, The 10 servers has those tiny fans that has to spin super fast to cool a server.. especially if it is doing any work. The G8 series are the equivalent to the x3650/x3550 M4 in the Lenovo series. Thank you for watching! :-)
6 жыл бұрын
now with 2 weeks in use i have to say i prefer the HP DL360 G8 more than the IBM x3650 M3, its alot of quiter, the ILO Management (i have bought the advances key) is much more perfect than the IMM (especially in Remote Console - IMM &java is a pain in the ass :D) and the usage with the provisioning management for easy configuration is much more likable than IBM- i didnt thought that there would be that much different but i am happy now ;)

Morten, your video gets 10 of 10 thumbs up. However, HP is 10 for 10 thumbs DOWN. This is the worst design they've every came up with. HP is actually making someone dangerous. I tried to rack my DL380p Gen8 last night solo and when I reached around to guide the other side in place I quickly realized I needed to disconnect the first side. Trying to find the blue release button and lost control of of unfastened side then everything came crashing down on my leg and foot. Now I am crippled for a couple of days. HP used to have the best rails ever. Especially on the Gen7. They could be racked and unranked with ease by one person. Now I have to call someone to help me for 5 minutes. I with HP would make something a single person could rack mount a server on.

Sorry to hear that! that sucks! I do not like that I have so many Servers from HPE, that fails in all sort of wayes, and when they fail, it takes so long to have them fixed.... they do a lot of stuff okay, and in some cases better than the competition,,, but 24/7 operation is the main thing for a server. Get well soon!
@TerryMundy
@TerryMundy 3 жыл бұрын
@@MyPlayHouse Thanks, getting better today. Do you pull an HP Gen8 to Gen10 sever or put it back in, do find that you can’t do it alone compared to previous generations with better built rails and a person could replace a server by themselves?

What size rack do you have? I bought the same server, but am just getting started with my business, and I'm not sure what rack to purchase. I see there's 600x1075 racks, 600x1200, 800x1075, 800x1200 (from HP). Which size rack do you recommend? Is the 600mm how wide the rack is and the 1075 how deep it is, in mm? I know I want a 42 unit rack. But I'm not certain about the other sizes. I have the DL380 G9, everything else is not nearly as long as the DL380 G9 server. Thank you!
@MyPlayHouse
@MyPlayHouse 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Spork Schivago The servers are pretty much the same 600mm wide,, but can vary a little in deep. My racks are old. and the distance between the mounting,, of about 750mm, but the servers sticks out the back, and there are also normally room for cable management arms and stuff. Some equipment needs a lot of space on the back. Good idea to check specs on your server. Thank you for watching! :-)

Thank you! So those HP 800mm X 1075mm and 800mm X 1200mm (BW917A, BW919A, etc) are just extra wide non-standard racks? Thank you!!!! I understand.
@Magicairsoft9
@Magicairsoft9 7 жыл бұрын
Spork Schivago For server Rack always choose dimensions of 600/800x atleast 1000. I've go almost always 600x800 but the newer servers doesnt fit that good- they are on the least possible lenght of the Rack.
@SporkSchivago
@SporkSchivago 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you guys! I will go for the 600mm x 800mm. I'm trying to figure out how tall an HP 36-unit rack is. I've been looking at the HPE H6J77A. The documents say total cabinet area is 23.54 x 42.72 x 68.66 in (59.78 x 108.52 x 174.39 cm). That would work perfect. Where we want to put it, we don't have a lot of height. But then, for total dimensions, the specifications say: 27.95 x 47.24 x 84.17 in That 84.17in....I wonder if that's correct. I hope not. That's a quite an increase from 68.66". If it's 84.17 inches tall, I cannot go for it. I want to purchase it, but I need to confirm that the HP specifications are correct. I know there's already a typo on their page, because those last measurements I listed, HP says that's the H x W x D. I cannot believe this 36-unit rack is only 27.95 inches tall and 84.17 inches deep. I think it's width, depth, height. I'm just hoping that 84.17 inch height is wrong and it's not as tall as that.
@Magicairsoft9
@Magicairsoft9 7 жыл бұрын
The Big-Name brands never recommends Rack cabinets smaller than 600x1000 for servers- so for example IBM/APC Netshelter are nice if money is no object. If you're going cheap I would take HP/Dell 600x1000 (42U) shelter with very reasonable prices. Precious dimensions can be found under support page of the producer. Bear in mind there will be also stands or rollers under the Cabinet and cooling unit under and over the cabinet- so some height is consumed that way.
