they need to do a POE version. Would solve connectivity issues for sure and then power it without the usb dongle.

Thanks for your video. I am building my home from scratch and i have the freedom to choose any hime control system. I have Sonos everywhere, smart switches, ring camera. What would you suggest as the ultimate hime control system for my entire home ?

I appreciate the honest feedback, definitely feel like some KZfaqrs always give positive reviews because they want the pipeline of new products to keep coming. I have a 3-gang Brilliant and can’t say that I love it. Around the time you made your last Brilliant video, I was having connectivity issues too and having to reboot all the time. Since, that has subsided but I do plan to replace with the Lutron Diva line up when I get a chance. As for this device, there is absolutely no reason to buy it if you’re a HomeKit user. I would add to the Con list that the camera and motion sensor aren’t exposed to HomeKit. I mean…why?

Sorry to hear you had the same issues, but glad they subsided for you….I 100% agree, if I have the ability to add it to HimeKit, at the very least I should be able to use the motion sensor…as for the cameras, they have always sucked and I could care less about them. 😬lol Lutron is the way to go.

Hey George, I had the same issue with my Brilliants constantly dropping from wifi. I also have the new Orbi wifi 7 mesh (also had the previous models wifi 6e). What eventually fixed my connectivity issue was changing the MTU Size value to 1500. It's a setting on the WAN setup under the advance tab on the online Orbi app. Now my 5 Brilliant panels have no wifi issues. I love HomeKit and wanted them to work. Good luck.....

Great video. And just subscribed. I use Lutron and love them. They work so well. Never tried brilliant because of the price. For the price of the plug in model I would be more tempted to buying and walk mounting an iPad mini or something similar

I guess what would it do if it were in Apple Home? It’s not directly wired to anything to control. I like that you could mount it higher than a light switch or put it on a counter

"every single switch in this apartment was Brilliant" "connectivity issues with my wifi" Isn't it the issue anyone can face one day when reaching too many wifi devices? (I know I did!) Unless you have super robust (expensive?) wifi router. One of the reasons I go for Zigbee devices whenever possible (more reliable/fast local control) I don't know Brilliant or Lutron much (I see Lutron comes with a smart hub plugged to your router) so sorry if I'm on the wrong track here ;-)

Yeah, but I have the new $2300 NetGear ORBI with Gigabit fiber internet.…didn’t matter. Plus. I’ve had that many of their switches with no problems…for years. This is a new issue.

@@GeorgeLangabeer I guess you now have the Orbi 970. Were you on Wi-Fi 6 before and did you have those Brilliant connectivity issues with your previous Wi-Fi setup?

Did you try a new router? My guess is all your problems with Brilliant have something to do with your network. You put them all on their own IoT network, but did you try just switching wifi routers? The only issue I have with 2 screens and 30 dimmers, is that the delay (especially with hue, or dimming, and worse dimming hue). I don't use Apple, no issues with Alexa/Google. Lutron is ugly af.

Yes. I’ve had 4 different routers (3 different brands) while having those issues with Brilliant.

why don't you just use Home Assistant exclusively? It integrates with everything. It seems you're wasting your time and with your skills you should be able to integrate everything with HA and also include things like, public transport data for your area using APIs, security camera streams, multiple light vendors working together, build your own security system. Honestly, you can do everything on it. Using Apple or Google or any other non self hosted system is just asking for trouble.

I’ve used Home Assistant. 1. I wasn’t a huge fan. 2. My Channel is not for the homeowner that is advanced to the point to use Home Assistant. My Channel is catering to your average home owner that wants the most basic method of creating a SmartHome. So I keep it simple, so they can keep it simple.
