Just received the new Behringer Eurorack Go 280HP Case and man is it huge! This video will show the unboxing and first impressions of the case. Part 2 will show the installation of the modules and powering on/final thoughts.
Sorry for the shaky video cam footage! I really had to zoom out a ton to get everything in frame for this review.

If you had to buy the behringer or another mantis would you still get the behringer? I have one mantis and Im not sure to buy another one or give the Go a try...

You can buy threaded nut strips that just slide in the rails instead of the nuts. Perfect Circuit, Synthrotek, and other places sell them. This case is meant for people on a budget and slide nuts work fine. I imagine any future versions of this case will use the strips instead. That said, thanks for the video. Very informative. Also this case is only $229 now so it’s a good time to get one, or a second one.

Thanks for the video. Can the stand be set at a custom angle or does it have to be either fully up or down?

Nice unboxing. The Mantis is certainly more aesthetically pleasing, but if you're on a tight budget, aesthetics might not be (tip)top of your list. I'm still waiting to take delivery of a Doepfer LC9 which is arguably more basic in form than the Behringer. Probably not your intention but you've got me interested in adding the Mantis to my RackBrute 6U and 2 Nifty cases

Thanks! I don’t have a dog in this fight so I’m glad it helped. Besides the power cable thing I ranted about I don’t have anything really bad to say about the Mantis. I owned 3 of them! My personal setup just favored the Behringer case right now and thought I’d show others as I got it early.

@@oldmanzero Imho there's nothing wrong with the Behringer. I'd gladly use it in my set up, it does the job (power limitations to one side). The Mantis is quite a sexy box with its curves and legs and while the Behringer is quite austere and functional by comparison, it's perfectly good at providing a larger housing than the Mantis for your modules. It's when you're not using the modular gear that the Mantis wins for me. It's the kind of kit that you can stand back and admire, it's very photogenic and when you want to show off your modules to friends, it's the business. The Behringer is much lighter on the wallet and who knows I may fill one with Behringer system 100 modules. Thanks again OMZ for showing me both cases, it is much appreciated and therefore I've liked it.

Excellent stuff, thanks so much for this... I'm mostly curious how it will stand up to patching when it's in the upright position. If it's sturdy enough when plugging and unplugging cables in the top corners

Great question, Andy! I tested that out and put it in the second part video. Should be up shortly. Cheers!

Is your case plastic ? Mine is, thought it was going to be metal for some reason ? Scrub that you say it’s plastic right at the end.

Damn, that's kinda disappointing honestly. I was hoping for this case to destroy all others in terms of bang for buck. I guess Eurorack is destined to stay expensive forever.

Beware of power supply limitations. I received mine last week and the manual states only one Model D, Nuetron, etc per zone and the official Behringer video of this product shows two Model D’s and a Nuetron plus other eurorack modules. According to the caution in the manual, this exceeds the max 12VDC current rating. I think this is sort of shady advertising. Otherwise it’s pretty well made and the slide nuts are fine IMHO.

@@apislapis Behringer sucks, but their synths rock. I always buy their stuff used because of the horrible things they've done. Like copyrighting Andrew Huang's friend's name so they couldn't even use their own name for their creations.

Part of the problem is just that the Neutron and Model D draw a lot of current. A lot of cases in that price range would start to get iffy running more than one, though the Go is probably the only one big enough you'd actually want to try.

@@mikeexits once you start putting modules, the screws you need are often not available. It gets worse when you start swapping modules, take a broad one out, put two smaller ones in. Then often the screws you need are under another module and you need to take out more modules to find the screws you need. It's a silly system, once used to complete strips, like in the rackbrute and most other systems, you don;'t want to go back to this Behringer system.
