Unboxing and Reviewing a brand new Itelco IDOL

Hey guys, welcome back to another TechShow video!
Today, I'm going to be unboxing and reviewing this little MID device called the Itelco IDOL. It runs a very restricted version of Linux, and has some basic media functions. I plan to possibly install a more complete Linux distro, or maybe even Windows on here in the future, so stay tuned!

MID? I'd say due to it's architecture, (x86-based) It's more of a UMPC. MIDs typically used some sort of ARM-based SoC or something else. I do wish we could see Modern UMPCs in a slim , pocket size shell like that.

Yeah, the only thing that makes it a MID is the limiting OS. But I fixed that! So now it's an awesome little UMPC kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icCUa92GuM_IlJs.html

I got one myself, probably from the same place you did, because it did not seem anyone else is selling them, but the battery seems to not take any charge. Strangely, it had charge even though it's a 15 years old device, but I cannot seem to charge it any more. Did you change the battery or have any issues with out the box battery?

I didn't have any issues with the battery in mine. Are you using the charger included in the box?

@@techshowyt Yep. Same charger, same battery. Also bought another charger and same thing. I returned and took a second one and still the same. Probably dead battery from never being charged. Still, was curious when I saw your IDOL's charger work correctly.

Hello I have the same issue, I live in France and I got 2 of these units. I used an universal battery charger (and it works) but it means I have to remove the battery and I cannot use the device at the same time... Do you live in the U.S ? If so it means I have to purchase a 220v to 110v converter... Thank you
