How fun! We had a bit of a holiday here on the 4th...and I wrenched my back as well, so so sorry I missed original airing. Well The Historic Sessions, at one time, was the one to get for best sound quality. Great job as usual with the important info. I was as excited as you looking through that. Thanks!

I was lucky enough to pick up several of those 80’s cut mono pressings at an import shop when they came out. My suspicion was that the owner broke up a Red Mono box, because everything was there except the White Album, so based on my financial limit at the time I bought every mono volume from “Help!” onward. Held onto all of them until about 3 years ago, for financial reasons, as I had purchased the Mono box in 2014, and was quite happy with it.

Another video where Andrew turns into a kid in a candy shop! 😉 I have a copy of The McCartney Interview that I bought in a local record shop in the UK back in the mid-to-late 80s. I didn't know it was deleted the day of pressing, which makes me think it would be rare and valuable. However, I suppose that depends on how many were pressed and shipped, and how much demand there was/is for it. I'm keeping hold of mine, anyway. Who knows--could become a family heirloom. Or one of my kids might ship to Parlogram for auctioning after my demise to finance a new video game console. *sigh* 😉

Nice video, Andrew. Seeing all those EMI inner sleeves brought back the only negative memory of first opening my then new and unplayed blue box about 16 years ago. I recall spending an entire afternoon carefully removing the albums from those abrasive inner sleeves. Then cleaning every record of the deeply imbedded paper dust they generated, held in place by a heavy static charge. It was the last time I made use of my zero stat gun from the late 70's. Then finally placing them all in new MoFi rice paper sleeves. It was a labor of love and well worth all that extra effort. My efforts were rewarded by superior sounding UK stereo vinyl. Better sounding than anything else in my collection at the time. Those EMI inner sleeves were all tossed in the fire place. Are they worth anything these days? Cheers.

I have all those Beatles albums on "Apple," label when you open it with "Parlophone,"label it's funny,but those are original ones. Never knew that in 1969. ''White Album," was first on "Parlophone," label,than on "Apple," one. Paul McCartney' s albums except "Back to egg," have as issued in former Yugoslavia plastic bags to it,wich make some man in England angry,but they don' t allow much of dirt on record,very usefull ones. To place them with record in a sleeve,needs experience and tehnique.😂😂😂 I see price of some record 13,500€,nice. Lucky you to have it. Not to forget,every record where' s written GEMA,are from Germany,"Odeon,"label where in Spain,Italy,Germany,maybe anywhere else,but those are that i know of,but GEMA is Germany only.🖐️ All my foreign records are from Germany.😎 Great video,anyway learned many things about Beatles,that i was thinking i knew,but...

The album came out in 1968. So you can easily find the first pressing White Album on Parlophone with the yellow logo label ,top opening cover etc. cheap. What’s cheap mean ? Apparently you know much more about these albums than I do. I thought all the first pressings were on Apple, and only the exported White Album came out on original sixties Parlophone label, and I heard they were really rare ,and expensive . Do the labels also have the “Sold In The UK “ statement on labels .

I'm guessing that that French pressing of the US Rarities album must have been a reasonably common import at the time, as that's the same version that I've got. Can't recall where I bought it (HMV, but which branch?), but I do remember seeing it around a bit for a short while (1982-ish, but definitely before the Love Me Do 12" of '82).

Strange case with McCartney. He managed to wriggle out of having to release his records on the Apple label by sweetening EMI into extending his distribution deal for another 5 years in the UK whereas he was prepared to jump ship and look around for another distributor, which in the US he did; he leased his MPL recordings to Columbia in North America but agreed to lease for the UK and Europe through Capitol to distribute as Parlophone releases by EMI UK (but branded as Capitol but under the Parlophone catalogue!) It's one reason why most McCartney records in the late 70s have no label logo at all having bespoke label designs for the release. But where this wasn't done, his records would be branded (over here) as Capitol. It was late in 1980 I believe that McCartney renewed his agreements with EMI UK directly and after his US contract with Columbia expired in 1982, had his EMI deal extended to include Capitol in the US again. Venus & Mars was the first LP to be distributed as a "Capitol" release and also the first where the recording copyright did not automatically go to EMI which ordinarily would have done under the contract the Beatles had signed in 1966 for ten years. And shortly after Paul bought the copyright in his solo recordings to that date from EMI to his newly formed MPL company.
@flyingkillerrobots877
@flyingkillerrobots877 3 жыл бұрын
@@mbvideoselection Actually, the Columbia contact ran from 1979-1984. (Or Back To The Egg - Broad Street). In North America, Columbia had the rights to press his back catalog up to Wings Over America until 1985 when he resigned with Capitol. The Columbia back catalog releases TYPICALLY had the bog standard red Columbia label, while the original releases USUALLY had bespoke labels (McCartney II being the exception with a red label).

Excellent video. I find all your videos on The Beatles very educational and I appreciate the effort you put in to create them. Have always loved The Beatles since I first saw them on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 when I was 10 years old. If I may make a suggestion for a video? I'd like to hear an opinion of the Canadian releases and pressings. Were they all the same as in the U.S.? UK pressings are impossible to find here in Canada and U.S. pressings are almost as difficult to find. Should I be favouring US pressings over Canadian pressings? Thanks in advance.

@@Parlogram Excellent news.:) Let me help you get started. I have Introducing The Beatles on VeeJay Records. The jacket says Stereo. but it sounds Mono to me. The record label makes no mention of either Stereo or Mono. The jacket has a track listing that starts with I Saw Her Standing There on Side one and ends Side One with Ask Me Why, The jacket says Side Two starts with Please Please Me and ends with Twist and Shout. The Jacket Catalogue # is LP 1062. The album label lists the catalogue number as VJLP1062. The album label lists the last song on Side One as Love Me Do. The album label on Side 2 lists the first track as P.S. I Love You. The track listings on the Jacket are correct. The numbers in the runout are etched 63-3402 and 63-3403. Also etched on side 2 is ARC 3-25-6. Thanks again. Those late 80's records a lot of them were sourced from digital masters, and we all know digital wasn't as good then as it is today! Then 48k/16 bit was as good as it got, but today you have over 192k/24 bit or higher! With that high of resolution, it'd be hard to tell whether a record was cut from that, or the original tapes! Which is why I Don't understand the choice for the 2012 stereo editions being cut from such a low resolution! 🤔
@plan7a
@plan7a 3 жыл бұрын
I was slightly cringing each time you read an inner sleeve date out! If an original had been replaced it wouldn't have been quite as accurate; all seemed to be original though. I've always hated it when dates on a label/sleeve don't match up with the actual pressing date. Often it's difficult to identify when it's been pressed later. Ditto when companies change copyright. If they put the original then a 'reissue' date (or new owner) it would be so much better. (I liked it when some used to include a pressing date in the dead wax, ditto Warner's CDs). Much easier to know then.
