Wonderful Blessings. It is a great pleasure to see your precious faces and hyperactivity. I am 71 and never heard of an Advent Calendar till I had our two living children. Our darling daughter and her wonderful husband,( 1st generation Greek American ) are active teachers in the Catholic Church. She was almost five and wanted to know more about Jesus. Janice , she wanted to know more on Jesus and not toyland or elf on a shelf. I helped them with a Christian homelife and Christian education. Infact, our daughter had Mennonite booklets from K-12 grade. Our son had Christian Academy out of Arlington Heights, Ill. plus public school. He graduated from a Methodist four year college plus additional education in Alabama. God does give the desires of our hearts. I am so happy people are happy making you all happy. Omgoodness....I'm a nurse and when Sarah opened her box with some nursing stuff in it....I literally teared up!! I remember that feeling so well..when i wanted to be a nurse. Sarah...I think you would be an amazing nurse!!

They show so much respect for you and their father I wish I could bottle it up and spread it across the whole world. We have always had a TV in the house, but we've never had TV channels while we've lived here. We pick and choose DVDs and KZfaq videos that align with our family's values and it's worked very well for us so far! :) I agree that certain shows really do help with their education!

Is Sam in College? What type of work is he wanting to do or get his degree in? What grade is Sarah and Andrew in? I know you homeschool I just was wondering how close to college they are or if they wish to even attend college?

Samuel and Sarah are both currently taking college courses. Samuel is a full-time student majoring in Business Administration and Sarah intends to major in Nursing. She is currently in 11th grade and Andrew is in 9th grade. I predict that most of the children will choose to go to college, but there may be a few that end up doing otherwise. It really all depends on what their future careers are.

Oooo that’s my favorite kind of chocolate lindor truffles are the best and so many fun flavors for the different seasons! My husband usually puts some in my stocking! Advent calendars are so much fun! My mom sent me a beautiful one last year and I was careful when opening the doors so I’m reusing it and put items in for my daughter to open! That’s nice that you’re still doing them even though you don’t celebrate Christmas!

Actually your wrong you go from one to twenty four. I got my first advent calendar age one and this year I'll be opening number 70. You have them with texts, chocolates,make up, bath bombs etc ad candles. You have male and female versions sorry I forgot to say skin care and perfume after shave.

Why do you call all women miss and then their name? Do you not recognise married women as mrs? Where I'm from only unmarried women and young girls are referred to as miss. If you called a married woman by miss you would cause seriois offence.

Janice, the complete & only meaning of Advent is to await the Coming Of The Lord. True, meaningful Advent Calendars are Holy with beautiful Advent Holy Bible Verse in each numbered Window - leading Christians towards the beauty of Christmas Day. I have to tell you, all 'Advent Calendars' you have received are 'Of' The World - Commercialised 'Advent Calendars' with no true meaning of Advent. Whilst your Children have a lot of fun with them - they are missing out on such beauty of a real, Holy Advent Calendar to enrich their Souls in GOD'S COMING. I am sad Children do not have a real, Holy Advent Calendar - the only Advent Calendars there are meant to be. Too late for me to send one Janice. Perhaps next year you could make certain your lovely Children have a true Holy Advent Calendar. No Chocolates, no Toys, no Lego, just a beautiful Holy Bible Verse with the true & beautiful meaning of Advent & the excitement of awaiting the arrival of JESUS' BIRTH.

There is no harm in children having some fun, Janice does Bible study with the children everyday or almost everday. I am sure the Lord is happy with that! I can't imagine the Lord frowning on children having some fun. And, of course, the Bible states that all sins are forgiven, so even if it is a sin, it is forgiven. The Bible also states that only God has the right to judge anyone which means you Do Not have the right to judge anyone. The Bible also states..."Do Unto Others As You Would Have Done Unto To You". If you don't want others judging you then you shouldn't be judging others. I am not even that religious of a person and I know that the Bible says these things, so I know someone as religious as you are knows these things too!

The fact you are not Religious tells me you have no Knowledge of Satan. Satan wants to lure Humanity away from JESUS. ALL Commercialised 'Advent Calendars' are of Satan to distract little Children away from JESUS. Yes, of course Children have fun with them - that is Satan's lure. If Janice had a proper Holy Advent Calendar, she could have a Bible Study each Morning reflecting of the Holy Bible Verse of that Day. A beautiful way of incorporating a Holy Advent Calendar with Janice's Bible Study. Obvious The Lord would prefer His Children to have a Holy Advent Calendar rather than a Commercialised one. That should be obvious to you Lisa. I never mentioned the word 'Sin' - you did. Having Commercialised 'Advent Calendars' is not a Sin - it is a choice. Also, I am not 'Judging' anyone. I am stating a fact. As a Catholic, I have a moral duty to advise Janice - a fellow Christian - to have a Holy Advent Calendar for her Children. In doing that, I have done my part. Janice has 'Free Will' to decide what to do with my advice.

I'm German and I grew up with the tradition of advent calendars (with sweet treats). Later on I got a university degree in theology. I (52) still treat myself to a "wordly" advent calendar each year. And also a spiritual one. I also read in the bible every day. Even Jesus himself knew that there is also a body to treat well, not only a soul...
