That writing is indeed the address of the store that this gameboy would have been sold from. It reads: Uni Ozone store, Nagoya, East district, East Ozone town. Unfortunately it seems as though that particular store closed down in 2010. The purchase was made on Sunday the 25th of January 1998. The shop clerk stamped the store's address in on the form upside-down but penned in the date by hand.

That stamped bit on the manual, according to Google Translate is "UNI Ozone store 261 Higashioozone, Higashi-ku, Nagoya." So I think you're right, it's the store.

I can help with the translations. The Purple Gameboy's Warranty Card included with the packaging does, as you suspected, include the name of the store which was supplied that particular Gameboy Pocket. The poorly-applied, upside-down stamp reads: 名古屋市東区東大曽町23 ユニー大曽根店 Nagoya Shihiga Shiku Toudai Sochou 23 (Address) UNY, Ozone Shop (Name of shop) UNY was the store name, Ozone is the name of the shopping centre/mall that the store was contained within. That particular store appears to have closed as of 2010. You were also correct to read the numbers below the stamp as a date, however your confusion is totally understandable. The date reads: 平成１０年１月２５日（日曜日） 1999/01/25 (Sunday), so January 25 1999. The first two characters are "平成" which is the denotation for the era of Heisei. Japan has their own ways to record the year, you'll see dates written in the typical format, so the current year would be 2020 for example but there's also the "era" year which runs alongside the reign of an Emperor. Since Heisei started in 1989, for it to be the tenth year of Heisei would make it 1999. For those curious, 2019 marked the first year of the era of "Reiwa" (令和) in Japan when the previous Emperor abdicated and his son became the new Emperor of Japan. Hope it helps, apologies if someone else already commented with this information, I didn't scan all the comments before writing.

I love the smaller,colorful,and compact handheld console boxes. The last few 3ds/2Ds boxes have been pretty average,but these old school packaging look so damn good.

The lid for the screwdriver case is actually doubled as a sorting grid on the inside to maintain organisation, Instead of using the magnetised mat. Far more helpful if you're taking apart something with lots of different types of screws

I also have the pro tech tool kit. I absolutely LOVE it. I recently started my own business fixing and refurbishing electronics. Mainly game consoles and I have a blast doing it. And the tool kit makes life a lot easier.

4:20 the stamp is of the shop where the gb was bought. its for warranty, which usually asks for the shop where you bought it and the date. shops stamp it for you so that you dont have to look it up yourself. it seems like the gb was originally sold by Uny (discount store) in Osone, Nagoya (closed in 2010) on Sunday Jan 25th, 1998 (Heisei year 10)

Holy shit. This unlocked memories I didn’t even know I had. I owned a red game boy pocket with the matching copy of Pokémon red and still have it and play it to this day. Just awesome stuff.

The date is probably the date when it was sold, stated Heisei 10 1/25, which translate to 25th Jan 1998, and the stamp is the shop that sold the gameboy.

the damage on the red box is external so maybe some other unit was laying on top of this one without protections and the batteries started leaking and spilled out on the unit underneath.

I know this is an old video and someone has probably commented this already but the purchase date is in japanese format. Heisei 10 is 1998, and it's 25th of January.

Anybody who has doubts about the iFixit Toolkit: I have the 64-bit set at home and it is amazingly well-made and super handy for anyone doing custom computer stuff.

The pen date states that the purchase was made on sunday the 25th of january 1999 (the 10 stands for 10th year of the Heisei era)

Hi Elliott, Excellent videos as always👍🏻 Question for you, back in the early to mid 90s before the play it loud original gameboys were launched there was talk of a gameboy that was going to be pink and called the gamegirl! Did these ever come out as Ive never seen one, only in a game magazine from that era. From memory it was the same pink as gameboy pocket and ps2 slim/psp pink edition. Take care
