Aside from metal tube what alternative tube could be use? How about the PVC Pipe? It is possible? Please enlighten me. Thank you!

A PVC pipe could work but I would be concerned about the longevity and strength of the pipe. Or you could use the cardboard roll that is inside of the paper. But also there is concern of the longevity too.

Thank you so much for this video. Has anyone out there found a cheaper solution to this? It is proving to be difficult to find something at the hardware store that is the perfect size to be wide enough for the neewer mounting system to fit inside, yet narrow enough to still fit inside the cardboard of the Savage Background paper.

I've seen some makeshift with PVC poles, but yeah the size of the fotoconic is unusual, and unfortunately does get costly. I'll dig around, and if I find anything good I'll be sure to relay!

Is this crossbar adjustable to fit 7 feet wide instead of 10 feet? Thank you so much for providing these instructional videos so I don't destroy my wall or ceiling when mounting. :)

This crossbar isn't adjustable, it's designed to go to 10 feet. If you had some way to cut the metal itself potentially. But no unfortunately it's not adjustable. They may have shorter poles though, because of course these brackets can go to any length.

I purchased aluminium poles similar to these from Canadian Studios. The challenge I have is that the 2 end sections don't fit into the ends of the middle section. There are screws which I assume I should tighten to reduce the diameter to fit in and then expand again. However, I am finding it extremely difficult to tighten the screw. Did anyone else experience this issue and if so how did you solve this problem?

We had a similar issue with these Fotoconic poles. I had a another person help me hold the poles in place as I loosened the screw, which allowed the pole to slip into the middle section, then we tightened it to expand the pole within the other. The pole was pretty rigid, so we had to kind of maneuver it just the right way.

What is the inside diameter of the tube? I have lots of tubes on hand and now I am wondering if the pipe inserts would fir.

The outer diameter is just over 1 5/8”! Hope it helps!

Are you supposed you use something special for allowing the back to go up and down cause when I roll it don’t it goes but trying to roll it back up the backdrop just stays in place

If you’re referring to the paper rolls, yeah sometimes I have that issue too! What works for me is that I lift up the paper towards the roll on the ceiling and kind of get it started. Seems to work well.

You definitely can! It may not hold as well long term! But I’ve seen many use PVC pipe before

I’ve done 2 - 4 foot rolls side to side, so that’s possible too. But mostly 1 - 10 foot roll.

So I read in the reviews that the poles aren’t really 10 ft. Is this true? What size paper do you use?

@boyzNtheShed actually you’re right! The pole seems to be 9 feet and 11 inches. An inch short of 10 feet. And the paper I use is Savage Paper - 107 inch x 36 feet. (8 ft and 11 inches long)
