I bought a new Powerdrive motor in 2019 for my 14’ Jon boat. Mine is a 50# thrust model. About 2 years ago the long wire on the foot control failed, which is apparently is a fairly common thing. Rather than purchase a new foot control, i opted to buy a Co Pilot unit instead. The cost was pretty much the same. I really like the Co Pilot feature for my type of fishing. Its much nicer than the foot control and offers the same features. The only issue ive had was the motor shutting down if the prop was stopped by some type of an obstruction. And sometimes i couldnt get it to start running again. A service center solved that issue for me by explaining to pull the plug from the power source when that happens. Raise the motor and clear the obstruction. Then unplug the motor from the power source. Then wait 5 minits or more before reconnecting and attempting to restart the motor. Ive had no issues since following this procedure.

Good information. However, one detail misunderstood is the Co-Pilot upgrade from Minn Kota. Unlike the I-Pilot, the installation of the Co-Pilot feature, still allows the user to keep the functionality of the foot pedal control. Besides the cost difference between the two upgrades, this is the reason I added the Co-Pilot from Minn Kota to my Powerdrive. I tend to use the controller when moving from spot to spot over a distance, but when I am situated in a area, and I want to slow down and methodically fish an area, I use the foot controller.

I need a power drive with I pilot. Other than that I want it bear bones. I don’t need sonar or one boat network. 24 volts and I think it only comes in a 60” version bare bones.

These are made for bow only I suppose. I am thinking of buying a pelican catch pwr 100 kayak with platform for motor on back of kayak

So the co-pilot remote has no spot lock feature?

why put the engine always at an angle and not in the center of the boat?
