The translucent paper is Vellum, and what you thought may be a vegetable or an onion is a crocus bulb, spring flower. Thank you for sharing your haul!!

Great haul. On the square buttons the clock one is called Big Ben, it's in London UK. Love cats and Shadow is gorgeous

That "see thru paper" is called Vellum and is rather expensive in big box craft stores.
