The book will tell you where to oil. With cleaning I tend to clean every few days of sewing. So glad shes purring. Shes pretty! Many happy sewing blessings to you!

I’ve got a hint for you for those taller thread spools. I got a straw and cut off a piece about as long as the spool and slipped it over the upright peg for holding the thread. Most spools will fit over the straw. Voila, no flying spools (generally). And that metal bar in your extra supplies is what I think goes in your walking foot. It’s used to space your stitching a specified distance from previous stitching.

Sew exciting getting to know your new machine. Good thing about a drop-in bobbin, you can see when it needs “dusting”. When you get your L.H. seam guide set up, your stickers in place, you’ll have miles and miles sewn in no time. Congratulations!

I'm giddy watching you play with your new toy and learning about all the new bits and bobs and feet. I'm so thrilled Buffy was so sweet to send this to you. A couple possibilities with the bobbin. Some machines have a right side up to their bobbin. If there is writing on one side, that should be your top. The bobbins may look almost identical to your old ones but be almost impermeably different. I had this happen to me once. The bobbin jumped and bounced around and just sounded terrible in the machine. When I really took a very very close look I could see a very slight curve at the edge of the one type of bobbin vs the other. It was enough to make a huge difference though. The organ needles are a very good brand. They are the brand many higher end machines come with. They are great to use and to make things even better, you can buy them cheap in bulk.

One addition possibility with the bobbin is that it may not have been seated entirely in place. You may want to just try swapping it back and try again once more before you change anything else.

I’ve had “bobbin” issues like the one you experienced with the bobbin you wound. In my experience, I discovered that the bobbin thread was not “wound” correctly, and that had to do with anything from the path the thread took to the bobbin, to how you secure the thread on to the bobbin. Unfortunately, it’s trial and error with a new machine, but learning on a NEW machine is sooo exciting! It will be SEW much fun learning all the “neat” functions of your new machine!

Same thing here, every once in awhile I will thread the bobbin in backwards by dropping the bobbin in backwards.

I found out the hard way...there are different sizes bobbins. My daughter used my machine..switched to one of her bobbins...and the machine quit working. When examing her bobbin..the holes matched but hers was a bit taller...made a difference. So be careful in using bobbins that don't fit. May just be a slight difference. Congratulations on the eversewn machine...I watched them..wanted one..was about to order one...walked in a fabric store...and quickly fell in love with a smaller simpler machine..bought it in the spot! I love my 2-3 yrs old machine...but still am very interested in the eversewn machines. I may get my ggd one in a few more years. She likes to sew..but I limit her cause I want it to be fun for her ..she turns 7 tomorrow so is a bit young. However I now have to stand beside her..cause she can do it on her own. She's knows safety howver still needs to be watched. Enjoy..let us know how wonderful it is!:)😊

Congratulations on your new machine!! If you wind the bobbin too tight it will create some wonky stitches. If you stop it before it is too full it won't over tighten the thread on the bobbin. Sometimes the top thread doesn't catch in the tension plate on top right either. Just double check your top threading. Good luck!!!

I think when threaded the bobbin the tension was off due the thread spool was a pre wind tube. This a cute machine!

Pretty machine. You shouldn’t need to oil…only if the manual tells you to. I have a small Pfaff and it doesn’t require oiling. All depends on instructions. If it doesn’t have metal parts, shouldn’t require oiling. Oil is to lubricate metal parts. Read the manual fully, and keep it handy! ❤️🇦🇺

EverSewn uses class 15 bobbins, which Singer Start does also. However, I’ve found Singer bobbins are fussy about working in other machines.

You used the thread on the peg, try using the horizontal thread peg, & the Aurifil thread to wind our bobbin from. Make sure you go match the manual steps for treading the bobbin. My EverSewn is thread picky, it likes Aurifil best.

What a great gift! FYI, per Google, the Sparrow uses Class 15 bobbins, which are the same bobbins as your Singer Start. Happy sewing.

You will use the holder that goes west to east is the holder you will use the most. The up and down thread holder is for the old kind of thread.

The while disc is the hold the thread holder. The spool net is for special thread like silk that come off too fast. The net slows the thread down.

Do not use the long thread that is why it wand the bobbin wrong.

I’m sure you read the manual by now but the thread net is for specialty threads, the felt round piece I think goes with the upright thread spool so the machine isn’t scratched. Also, the bobbin can be wound with the horizontal thread pin. You only use the upright pin for a “traditional” spool of thread. The thread that is wound in a crisis cross pattern (like all the aurafil thread) is for the horizontal pin. You used one of your singer bobbins I believe that is why they are different.

@@ArkansasGals horizontal one… for some reason the way the thread is wound on the bobbin in that criss cross pattern means it needs to be horizontal. The old school spools of thread need to be upright.

I am just getting home to see this video. Ok so the organ needles is a specific brand. They are as good as schmetz. Take the time to read through the book. I know I hated hearing that with my machine but, so many things I learned just reading thru the book. My machine as tons of stitches and I use like 3 lol. I wonder if when you checked the bobbin against yours did you maybe switch them by accident?

When you take the bobbin out if it has a little mesh in the center, that’s where you put one drop of oil.

You threaded the top wrong. Follow your diagram exactly. Look at it from the top. The thread should go around the large stump, not the small one (it’s for the bobbin).
