I race with both. Primarily magnets though. With or without, with a little practice you get a feel for the layout and you don't fishtale...

@@MrAramsey4979 I have some old and newer scalex track and run no magnets at around 10 volts just so there is nice sliding action. Considering going digital and like the carerra options and plug n play aspect versus others. Either way I go I will have to after-market chip everything I own. I'd like to race a few autonomous opponents though and not just one rubber banded controller opponent like old days.

@@tvtoms In my opinion, Carrera is the best option for digital racing. The track quality is better. I chipped quite a few of my cars but it does get expensive. The Carrera cars look great but they're not the fastest which forces you to buy slot it or some other high performing slot car brand. But...Carrera's accessories are the best...Get the "Smart Race" software to support your system...it is amazing...

@@MrAramsey4979 I really wish I had more room. I do think Carrera has great stuff and the best track system for both racing and the digital aspects. Until I decide to toss out the couch, I'll have to make do with the old stuff.

@@tvtoms Well...I ended up setting my system up in the mechanical room in my basement. My wife didn't think it could be done but with a little enginuity I got it done... you would be surprised with what you can come up with limited space.

TJ I tune all my cars. I switch tires from rubber to silicone, I tru them, I change bushings, I change guide blades, I add weights where needed, sometimes I change the pinion gear from plastic to metal, I oil and grease everything. So yea I tune all my cars. The Michelin sign was custom made. I printed out the sign for free off the internet. Cut it to size. Laminated it for $1 at Kinkos and glued the legs on it. I bought the metal rods from my local hobby store for $2 and cut them to size for my legs.

I misspoke regarding the Michelin barriers. I got them off ebay.
