FLSun is looking to set a world record with their new S1 FDM printer. It's capable of printing at a staggering 1200mm/s, making it the fastest non-commercial printer on the market. GamingTrend got to check out the S1 for ourselves, printing some awesome stuff, and at speeds that absolutely blew our minds. We also tried to solve a few of the world's problems while we were at it. Check out this video review, as well as our written review at GamingTrend.com, and stay tuned for all things 3D printing!

Gotta be honest I always find it funny when people talk about using the cheapest filament they can for large prints to save on cost then proceed to use insanely high infill for non-functional prints. Like you’d probably be able to print a whole second model just with the filament you would have saved by using lightning or adaptive/support cubic and a lower percentage

I think thats 10-15% lines infill and thats not that high.

I said I use cheap filament when layer lines don't matter. It's not a matter of cost. Chip clips don't need to be beautiful.

Looks pretty impressive overall! They definitely put a lot of work into this beast. Quality looks solid, if needing a little tuning for perfection. I'm hoping the T1 is great too despite the much lower price.

Hi, what layer height were you printing at. in the slicer the lines looked huge. Could we also get some times on these prints. Love deltas have two, Prusa, and banbu. as well as DLP SLA machine... Thx for showing the printer.

Just over 8 minutes with their built in benchy which is optimized g-code like all other printers. Those are always optimized though I saw another Livestream and that's how long it took but the quality was good.

Defaults all the way. 0.4mm nozzle. Don't remember they later heights. As the previous person said, about 8 mins for benchy. Predator too 2.5 hours. Gauntlet pieces were around 2.5 to 4 hours a piece (large vs small). For shelf-worthy, I'd slow it down a bit and use better filament.

Waiting for reviews of the T1. Being more affordable, I’d like to see it stacked up to the P1S.

Been patiently waiting on the T1 since November. I have the P1S and with the AMS and its capabilities there’s no comparison. I had a Q5 and SR and although fast for their time, multi color printing was difficult but not impossible. As soon as I got the P1S, I regretted my T1 order but I’ll still give it a good shake down if I ever get it.

I don't think it will be out for a bit longer for a few reasons. First. The S1 is actually available on FLSUN's website right now and I'm mostly because the specifications are incomplete. The AI stuff still says coming soon but mostly because it doesn't list the MCU The S1 is using a quad core 1.5Ghz ARM processor, which is very impressive. Either FLSUN hasn't decided what MCU to use or they aren't updating their website. It has the same print accuracy, 1000mm/s and 90mm/s flow rate, same fab setup, just 30,000RPM instead of 40K and 30K acceleration compared to 40K for the S1. It's biggest advantage that I see is it's using 36V Closed-loop motors which I believe is a first for any 3D printer. It also says it has real time filement detection so it can give you a rough estimate of grams of filament left. S1 says heated up to 50C which really isn't that impressive. I don't believe LIDAR adds anything. You can't use it on PEI sheets but you can now? I get software is different but a PEI plate isn't smooth. Additionally Pressure Advance and Flow Rate go hand in hand The T1 at its current price is simply a better value. Smaller build plate, no LIDAR, but a camera with the same spaghetti and something on plate detection. Cheaper but still carbon filtered enclosure, similar to Z1 vs P1. I don't think the S1 is worth 1K more than the T1 but I have a feeling the T1 price may go up. If not before launch then soon after. I have seen VZBot AWD Core XYZ get to 2000mm/s at 0.16mm height bit also had a water cooled hotends to cool the stepper motor and extruder and all the and all the stepper motors are water cooled.. AaWD just means 2 stepper motors for X and Y (four total) and shorter belts. With shorter belts it resonates less so input shaping doesn't kick in until higher speeds and 2 extra stepper motors gives you that. It's also open source and ou have to build it yourself so..... With that said the VZbot team said their next printer ter is going to be a Delta printer ter for the speed advantages over Core XYZ

Speed is nice especially if your doing lot of prototyping as I do on my X1C but after that you also need quality for working parts. Every review I see on the FLSUN is always about speed speed speed I would like to see one that concentrates more on finish quality as its obvious even at half the insane speed it will still be fast! all in all a good review and very impressive printer.

Review embargos, when they set the release date far enough away from the reviews so customers can make an informed decision, are probably a good thing for reviewers. They allow for all reviewers to prepare and take their time with the review and be thorough and not worry about racing against other content creators to rush to be the first video up.

Layer lines aren't caused by cheap filament, and still that 1200 number still wasn't justified in this video there was no comparison from another printer on speed with the same exact model, any company can throw a number on a box and it seems like the number keeps getting bigger and bigger......................

Have you personally dealt with FLSUN support? I haven't in it they could be great or terrible, what was your personal experience with them like? The T1 for the price crushes every printer you mentioned on paper, 600 US for 1000mm/s, 90mm/s volumetric flow rate, 30000mm/s acceleration 30K fankije S1, AI detection and camera. It's essentially this with a non metal chamber and smaller print area. No spool holder/drying box above it and no LIDAR either. It's the P1 equivalent of the X1

@@GamingTrendVideos i kinda think that is the issue, its advertised as one thing. but very poor at that. so if you slow it down... there are alot better cheaper options then this lol. Thing is all your prints showed here are poor quality looking like delta artifacts, extruder not being able to to consistenly extrude and or simply unerextruding. i get that your setting it at max, but speed dosent matter if it looks worse then the stock first gen ender 3 imo

@@tobiaspersson7320 For some things I'm gonna print top speed. For some things I'm gonna go smaller nozzle and slower. I appreciate it when my mom says "Hey, XYZ part is wearing out" and in a matter of minutes she has a replacement in her hand. For things like this gauntlet, it's gonna need slower, smaller nozzle, or more sanding. You print -- you get it. It's a tradeoff, and always will be.
@tobiaspersson7320
@tobiaspersson7320 13 күн бұрын
@@GamingTrendVideos Yeah, i do print. Which is why i dont get why you need a smaller nozzle to just run finer layers. ie 0.12 or even 0.08. 0.4 should handle this fine. Issue is still that at the speeds you have ran the extrusion does not look consistent. If this would be an PLA issue it would not look like this at all. If they say or state that it is. I really dont understand why they havent sent you abs instead of pla to test with since its better at flowing at highspeed and would require less cooling. the more i think about this the less sense it makes tbh. its either the hotend or extruder thats not keeping up

I'm not convinced. The quality of the prints isn't great. Go slower for a better surface quality.
@GamingTrendVideos
@GamingTrendVideos 14 күн бұрын
I wanted to show the direct out of the box printing quality. You can of course go slower, and you can of course swap out the nozzle if you need something tighter than that
@JoshFisher567
@JoshFisher567 13 күн бұрын
I'm not convinced either but I was surprised that it ships with a 0.2mm and 0.4mm nozzle. It shows that FLSUN thinks it can. 0.2mm is rare to get with a new printer but can print smaller layer lineswhich typically results in better detail. Now how fast you can go while remaining at that quality has yet to be determined I'm glad they used a standard for the nozzle size, because of Bambu more are moving to proprietary hotends which sucks. If this can do the flow rate it claims it proves that companies saying it's needed for fast speeds is all a lie, which it is. If you want detail resin is obviously way better but the size restriction is the biggest issue, that and chemicals.

That wasn't an "over extrusion line" that was a seam. Clearly someone who doesn't know much about 3D printing. While I appreciate someone taking the time to review a printer that doesn't have many reviews yet, perhaps learn a bit more before making a review video that could potentially confuse other non experienced people
