I received my watch (aqua) last month in Dubai mall but they didn’t give me the metal ring pendant. I’m kinda sad because they forgot to include my extra link adjustment. The next day I requested for the missing link and luckily they send it to me through Careem with complimentary chocolate sweets.

that is a great looking , masculine wrist watch. the patterned dial - is handsome. nice choice. the leather pouch - is smart , looks useful so much more than the rolex system. TDE - good luck with this piece - make sure to WEAR it !! ~ JDS/CT

I’m happy to receive my first ever “Gerald Genta” design watch. I waited over 8 months for this watch. Before the release of iwc, I was planning to get either Patek or AP, but unfortunately, I couldn’t get one due to the high demand, it’s sad that as a watch enthusiasts, I couldn’t own one of their watches. If you can advise me on how to get a genta’s watch without dealing with grey market. I wonder how most people own AP and Patek in Dubai. Do they buy it retail or buy it from secondary grey market ?!

Congrats on the purchase! Tired of reading internet comments about it being "overpriced," while comparing it to the Mark XX with the same movement which is half the price, or that an Omega Seamaster is less expensive, but more bang for buck. Do those other watches look like the Ingy? Were they designed by Genta? How can you compare the Ingy to a pilot watch (Mark) or a Seamaster (diver)? The look, feel and, bragging rights are totally different.

Never would I buy such an expensive watch without fine adjustment. This is a no go. Better to be patient and wait for the next version.

They did announce that they will offer a different clasop eventually as an option with on the fly micro adjust, like in their other bracelets. They went for looks over functionality. Why they don't use the butterfly clasp microadjust like their sister brands JLC or VC? I don't know.

Hi, we always like ur videos; just today I had the chance to try this watch at a local Nordstrom store which has a Watchfinder stand, but it didn't work out for me. I have plenty of hair on my hands and this makes the bracelet terrible - it pulls lots of hair !!! The second aspect was the non-smooth crown operation while winding. The feeling I got was friction on a rubber gasket. The watch wears sort of big due to the shape and the crown protection, but I think it's ok.

Nice watch. I have seen it during presentation at Watches and Wanders last year. Anyway, I would prefer AP which design is very close, but the watch itself is way more status and recognizable.

Nice watch,my preference is most the portofino,more simple to,i find one in chrono 24 in full gold including strap for only 6500$,of course its a 34mm watch,old school not like actual big size..

Great review as usual, I thank you! I was trying black dial version in Dubai mall boutique and that’s very beautiful watch. I still can’t justify the price before I decide to buy, may be 7-8K will be ok. What is the crystal size, Niko? Can you please measure?

It's a very nice watch, but IWC is charging Rolex money for Seiko technology - push pin links and no micro-adjustment clasp; get real IWC...

Same movement BUT finishing is at a very different level than the mark 20. Dial is hand painted and bracelet is hand finished. That's where the extra expense is.

a beautiful watch but in this price range a fine adjustment of the bracelet is a must.

Too bad the polished chamfers on the bracelet links are all over the place. Not even at all... This is extremely hard to do by hand of course, but they should put more care into it if they charge this amount of money for the watch. It's not a 10.000USD piece anymore. That is why Patek and AP cost as much as they do unfortunately...

2:46 That is a ~USD30 Swiss made Caran d’ache pen. I’d argue that is not a low quality pen (sure it is not a Mont Blanc, etc, but still quite a decent pen).

Great review, thanks…but do I detect some very subtle dislikes..personally whilst I respect the IWC name and history, this watch is clearly lacking in some essential aspects for me, and does not make my list. Really at the full list price it’s a definite no no..The pen is a giveaway, literally.

Beautiful 👌🏼 very overpriced in my opinion. Does the minute hand jump when you pull the crown out ? The 32111 movement has a problem with this happening and when I went to collect my MK XX it also did it so I left it in the store.

I get the watch has an awesome story and history but the pricepoint is even too ridiculous. My local IWC AD got a couple in the other day and i went and checked them out because i was in the area. Even he was like, this is 30-40% too expensive. We looked at like 15 watches that were less expensive that we both would rather have than the Ingenieur. Some of them, i could buy two and still be less expensive than this.

You are not correct about the popularity of the first Gerald Genta Ingenieur. IWC made less than 1,000 of them because they did not sell well. That model became significant many years later when the Gerald Genta craze began in earnest.

The watch is cool but I wouldn´t call a Caran d´ache 849 a everyday low quality pen...that like saying a Mercedes C-Class is a low quality everyday sedan...

Its weird.. sometimes this watch looks quite cheap, but from other perspectives it looks quite good. Also sad that it is not free sprung for that kind of money.. Still a good video as always!

Excellent review. Beautiful watch. However, IMHO, the price is a turnoff, watch should maybe be 6k-7k, which would be more reasonable, as the same movement can be found in less expensive IWC watch models, and there is no micro adjustment available. Otherwise the watch is great. Enjoy.

That is NOT a low quality pen... it is a Karan d'Ache from Switzerland. Although, it is the cheapest model in the catalog.

Im not feeling anything with this one, my Cartier santos large feels more interesting design wise and has the best bracelet sizing mechanics that I have seen, I have several Rolex, omega and Cartier and the santos re sizing is a home run.

I’ve tried all 3. AE has best fit and finish, Laureato is best deal on secondary market, IWC has best cohesive design and feels best on wrist

@@Leo-gh7nz I tried them all and I chose IWC because of the best design. Chopard is nice, but I can't stand roman numerals on watch with sport luxury design. GP for me is worse, because of trying to be AP, cheap simple bracelet and dial with only one pale color (38mm). All of them don't have micro adjustments and their calibers are not high horology without impressive finishing.

@@uzer03 Yea, I agree with that 100%. Not to necessarily denigrate the other two, but you can kinda see why Genta is so highly regarded and the IWC IS a Genta design while the others are copycats. IMO the Ingy definitely flows the best while the other two can a be a bit too busy design wise.

Ironically, the IWC Ingenieur is similar in many ways to the less expensive Baume & Mercer Rivera automatic. Look it up.

Richtig . Das Uhrwerk von der Stange aus der Richemont Gruppe. Keine Bandverlängerung . Da Armband ist auch auch der Group und wird auch bei Lange Odysseus verwendet. Das System zum wechseln der Glieder ist nicht neu , dies gab es schon Mitte der 2000er von Glashütte Original bei den Sport Evolution Modellen.

This watch is a steal at $12k . Mine keeps great time and the finish and aesthetics are fantastic. This watch is a third of the price of other Genta creations of the same period and is CHEAP

Not my cup of tea, an overpriced watch with cheap box. The movement is basic and generic with nothing special about it, the high price tag is just for the Gerald Genta design/ name, even though his true masterpiece was the AP RO followed by PP Natulis with top notch case and movement finishings.

This is the most disappointing watch in years. Because its is a beautiful and brilliant watch and design, gorgeous in every way BUT!!! The price is based on the greed of grey market dealers of the watch boom which is now collapsed. So the price is pathetic. Then the killer blow, especially at this price point is no micro adjustments on the bracelet. That is beyond pathetic. When the watch was announced and being a big fan of the Ingenieur I was straight in to pre order one. Subject to one question, does it have micro adjustment? No they said. How? What absolute muppet thought that was ok at this price point? Unbelievable, very irritating and no way could I support the stupidity of this price and no micro adjustment.
