Time to make some T slot covers 😉 Cheap ABS plastic. Mill it so it slides into the T slots. A couple taped holes in the plastics and a set screw will secure them in place.

John, It always a special day when you take delivery of a new machine. It never gets old, no mater how many machines you own. It is a strange law of physics that all machines look smaller on the truck than when in the shop, no mater how large the machine.

Freaking OUTSTANDING!!! Finally I get to see a new machine being installed by a proud new talented owner. Its been so hard - for much of my life - seeing the USA getting outsourced, torn down, shut down, regulated out existence, you name it. What a FANTASTIC video! Totally made my day!

When our Haas VMC 5 was unpacked I handed out the 5 pails of desiccant to fellow shop workers that had gun safes. They had a little moisture gauge on the side, they were all dry. From Oxnard to New York. Love the controller.

Here you go, all the way from Oxnard California. I don't get the criticism but I do get that HAAS employs a lot of people in the US. The guys that I use to build many of my parts use HAAS machines of various flavors and the parts from those machines looked and worked good. Not overlooking the skill in tool path creation and part machining, in competent hands these machines can do a lot of good work.

The Riggers did a nice job. As a Rigger myself, the only thing I would have different would be to pull the truck out from under the lifted machine. Coming straight down with a load is much better than backing up with the load elevated. Good luck with your new machine.

Very congrats, I think you've earned it. Haas is a incredible company and awesome of you to buy American. Prepare to be blown away from what you are used to. I think you'll find ridged tapping will out preform thread milling in terms of speed and ease of use. Thread milling has it's uses, but glad you got ridged. Should be able to wash down that table fairly easy with the full pressure hose. Again, glad to see you're growing.

A quick tip since your machine will have the next gen control, get a paint marker and paint one of the drive lugs on the spindle so you can quickly orient new tools going into the tool changer. Older machines have an orient spindle button, but it was removed on the new control. :-( We have 4 Haas machines, with 4 different levels of control, so if you have any questions, I would be happy to help. We're right up the freeway in Mayfield.

Woohoo! :D Might think about making some inserts for that cart to hold your TTS. It works well for moving tooling between machines, but since you only have 1 with CAT40 at the moment and more than enough tool storage on the machine itself, it could be more useful for your Tormachs. Keep any transport hardware, including the red brackets, together and in storage. If you ever decide to sell the machine (even 10 years from now), you'll need them. And of course...congratulations!

Haas is #14 in the world, in terms of total revenue at just under a billion a year in 2014, they're the largest in the US, with their Oxnard facility is around a million square feet. The largest in the world is Trumpf, in Germany. Versalift is who you're probably thinking of, with the extending counterweight. They're not cheap, i think the 25/35 is around 200 grand new.

Swearing? Well, maybe not a good thing all the time but no big deal once in a while. Trucking, I have about 800,000 accident free miles as a trucker almost all of which are as an owner operator. All of my owner operator miles are flat bed or drop deck operation. Very few big trucking companies take on loads like these. The big companies prefer regular cargo that they can do day in day out. The fella that picked up your machine I'm betting is an owner operator. I love machine skates. Those are different than any other kind I've seen. Look like they work so smooth. Hallow place under the floor. I'm guessing no big deal right now but if you think it's worth worrying about, maybe a concrete jacking company can pump some grout under the floor. Thanks for the videos.

John, watching this was so exciting! I can only imagine how you felt. If I can ask/make a suggestion... I'd personally like to see shots of the controller, stuff like you setting up tool offsets/work offsets. I've just started (like within the past month) making parts after a couple years watching your channel and the mill I'm using has the same (or maybe 1 version older) controller as this! I've learned a LOT from your channel--specifically CAD and CAM, would love to learn some more about actually setting up the mill as that has definitely been the most difficult part for me. Congrats man!

Don't throw out the tool cart! You'll soon have the price of a second machine in tooling! Trust me I know from experience. lol...Good luck with it John, HAAS may not be the best machine out there but they have tremendous support and are capable of making a wide variety of parts. A few years ago I bought a VF5 for a company I worked for with 35 HP and a gear transmission. All that HP was kind of a waste with a 40 taper spindle though.
