im happy with it. it was a good upgrade for me as i used to just have a DVD player, and some logitech PC speakers as my 5.1s. i used my PS3 to watch blurays. im not sure with what your situation is but im happy with it. it does have a bit of a noise from the fan but the performance is good.clear videos, great sounds, you can connect your iphone/ipod to it, watch movies from your USB, and its like i upgraded to a smart TV.i guess it depends on what you want and what you already have

yes there is. i had a look at the bottom of the player and it says DVD region 4 and BD region B. Just make sure you ask the sales person about the regions but so far its been able to play disc that i plug in

Thank you for the feed back (both good and bad) and your kind words. I didnt realize till late that I could hardly be heard as soon as I moved toward the box. I would consider getting a microphone or at least speak louder next time. havent had that problem so far but it might be i keep it in an open space where its easy for me to change discs...though i can see your point if u decide to keep the player in a space where it fits perfectly. there is enough space to move around though because of the display screen

i dont know much about other brands but this one makes a buzzing noise too when there's a disc inside but its quite temperamental as sometimes its loud sometimes its not. what i usually do is eject the disc and put it back in and it usually does the job. i made a video about the noise that it makes

The front speakers are wired to the actual blu ray unit...you dont need to connect the rear speakers to the player...there's a wireless receiver that links to the blu ray player. so you dont need a wire to connect the rear speakers or the receiver to the blu ray player. but the rear speakers are hooked up the the receiver. i hope that made sense

im not sure what the difference is between the sub woofers but the rear speakers of the n990w are wireless. if i have time i'll try to make a video of me using the n990 coz ive had a few people asking me about it. i've got an old TV. its about 4yrs old i think so yours would be better than mine. my TV is connected to the player via HDMI

you can access youtube using the N990W...the quality depends on the quality on the video posted though...i dont think they upscale it

youre welcome man.It's a shame that you dont get the dock there,i thought it was the same everywhere.Anyway,i tested it and you can connect you ipod/iphone to the USB port (using your ipod USB). i was able to play music and videos. the only problem though is that the dock has a line that connects to your TVs "Video in" so you can watch videos on your TV.w/o the dock,you can play the sounds of your video but not watch it on your TV.otherwise you can control your ipod through the BDV just the same

i have had the pioneer 727 which is their top system 2012 europe. sent it back it sounds good but it runs really really hot even on standby. also it keeps freezing and needs to be unpluged from the mains and bootup is long so is loading of discs. so was looking for the sony 990w which now i read people saying it freezes also and makes a really loud buzzing noise so might get a samsung 7.1 or lg 9.1...regards

Thank you for the unboxing video and the other one as well! I went to sony store and took the demo myself and output is really different with tweeter being there on top of front speakers. It gives more crisp sound compared to E690. One question, is there any way to play songs ON n990w from my iPhone/iPod without the dock? In my region, Sony does not give away dock for free. Did you mean the BDV-E690? i checked out the sony website and compared their specs (youtube wont let me post the link). Based on the comparison (if you did mean the e690) there's no difference between the two regarding video/sound quality (except for some sound modes). The N990 just has a few more things like HDMI ports,built-in wifi,etc.It depends on what you're looking for.If you dont really need those other things then its probably not worth spending another $200

I do like the look and the idea of the side loading disc slot but imagine getting it home realising you cant get a disc in or out because of the dimensions of your entertainment unit, at least front loading will work in any unit. my bet is they will ditch this design for that reason.

sorry for the late response, been busy.it's got some awesome sound and bass. im very happy with that.i tried its sound at the shop before buying it & it was good.it plays MPEG-1 Video/PS (.mpg .mpeg, .m2ts)/ MPEG-2 Video/PS,TS (.mts) Xvid(.avi) MPEG-4 AVC (.mkv, .mp4, .m4v, .m2ts, .mts)/ WMV9 (.wmv, .asf)/ AVCHD RMVB (.rmvb). So far,i havent encoutered a problem where it told me that it cant play a particular video format. as for the e980 and e970,im not sure but i'll let you if i get some info

apparently my demo video has been blocked worldwide because of some "visual content administered by FOX". i'll have a look at my video. i think i just have to remove a part of the video where i played some movie parts. i think once i do that my video wont be blocked anymore. hi axp812, well went and had a demo of the samsung D6750W 7.1 and it was really disappointing blu-ray was great but sound was not woth the money the sound was a little distorted to me and dull. lg 9520tw 9.1 was well ahead of the samsung blu-ray was just as good but the sound was 10x better 9.1 works well to. but i never got it as the dealer said lg have a new 9.1 system comming out soon and they have the yellow drivers like on b&w speakers and look awesome with more power!!..

hello there. i tried to look for information to try to answer your question but unfortunately i dpont have the answer. all i basically know is the e980 is an older model (lastyear's) while the n990w is their latest (just released a few months ago). they look identical and looks like they have similar features but im not really sure what the differences are. is there a big price difference between the 2?

Boa tarde, as caixas traseiras tem fio e são conectadas em uma aparelho(link que necessita de uma tomada )no meu caso ficou perfeito pois os fios das caixas traseiras estão escondidos atrás do meu sofá. Em cada ponta(direita\esquerda) do sofá eu coloquei uma torre(caixas) e na frente está a estante com mais 2 caixas em cada lado mais subwoof e mais outra caixa central.Recomendo,qualidade excelente,lê vários tipos de videos em full hd (3d também).No walmart estava R$ 1.399.Um abraço!
