True story! I went to Guitar Center last night and bought the MPC One+ and Akai just released the MPC Key 37 this morning! Returned the MPC One+ and ordered the MPC Key 37 about an hour ago! Coming in, in 3-5 days!!!! Can't wait!!! Awesome video Bro!!!!

One feature that the Key 37 has, that most people aren't talking about is the ability to control/transmit midi over usb, while in standalone mode. It's old tech, but the modern line of MPCs haven't been able to do this until the release of the MPC Key 37. That means you can simply connect to and control your DAW with a usb cable only. No need for a midi interface or usb to midi cable.

This looks like almost exactly what I’ve been looking for. I know they make about a dozen controllers, but a slightly cheaper one without the sequencer and a more expensive one with 4GB or 8GB of RAM would be nice.

Is the red as shiny as on the Akai Advertisement or more of a matt finish? In a lot of videos it seems way more Matt than I thought.

Akai, this is Great however, we must get a product that has the knobs to correspond on each pad, like on the mpc x. This would be awesome if it had the 16 knobs. The key 61 as well as this would sell more units, if indeed it had what I mentioned.

Had the Live 1 for 3 years and had to sell it because I was in a jam. Loved that thing. Was considering getting a Live 2, but this is 400 dollars less. The only thing I don't like is the smaller pads. I would pay another 150 bucks if this had the same pads as the Live has.

Does the keys (keyboard part) work with the scale/chord progression mode? i.e as can be used on the pads.

Looks like the buttons are same as the Mpc one let’s hope they last longer than mine, where they pushed the solder pad away from the circuit board and broke the connection. Akai uk wouldn’t do anything about it, because I’d bought it used, even though it was only 6 months old, with hardly any use. Clearly a huge design flaw.

Huge mistake for not including a battery. There’s a bunch of unused space inside that could have been used for a huge long lasting battery.

Nice piece of good looking equipment, thanks, although... I bought once AKAI MPK Mini 3 and after two years I still don't understand anything about it. I watched hundred tutorials, downloaded manuals, and I still don't get what the hell is "program", how you write it?, upload it?, why you need external software for that? what do you even do with it? Why is this program not playing anything? Why if I change the program it doesn't change anything but the naming on the little screen? Why I cannot program it to play keyboard on keys and drums on pads? Why some knobs destroy my instrument's sound if i turn them (and I have to reupload the instrument to have the original sound back), and on some instruments the knobs do absolutely nothing? And what about more advanced things than just that? I was great in calculus and advanced maths at school. I understand the theory of relativity. I am a professional classical musician and performed biggest symphonies and operas in largest concert halls. I composed hours of music. I do technical drawings of complex production installations for fun and extra money: that's complex but doable, fun. But this MIDI thing is out of my understanding, and in two years of trying to absolute failure, I lost every single bit of enthusiasm. Maybe it is my language barier? But I work 100% in English and my language skills don't hamper my work. So thanks, mister, for this movie, have fun with your AKAI. This instrument looks fun and beautiful, and I'd be thrilled to have one, but I couldn't use it. No matter what I do it just doesn't work or does something different. I wanted to use my AKAI for so much fun, but ended up buying five instruments and learning how to play them and record them manually instead, because this stupid AKAI thing doesn't work as shown as if it was the easiest thing in the universe on all these tutorials!!!
