To anyone purchasing the Gringo S helmet in 2020 you will more than likely get a generation 2, while most of the the bubble visors are still gen 1. Chrome, smoke and one other are available in gen 2 but gold and others are NOT. Worth checking before you buy

Great helmet, great fit when it was only a DOT rated helmet. Since they have become ECE rated to suit their European buyers, the interior is much smaller. If you wore an XXL “old style” Biltwell in the past you are now SOL.
@forthebold5 жыл бұрын
Definitely. The extra padding needed for ECE has made it tighter.

Tried a Biltwell once but wasn't impressed. The problem with the cheaper helmets is that they don't accommodate the wearing of glasses very well, which is fine if you don't wear them, but I do. I like the Biltwell style but found the Bell Bullit Candy Blue Carbon was a much more comfortable fit, actually protects your head and looks better as well in my opinion. You can't put a price on a quality helmet as one of my best friends found out the hard way.
@forthebold5 жыл бұрын
I like the style of the Bell bullit and it did feel comfy at the top of my head. It was the aperture and chin was a little exposed. But I can see how that would accommodate glasses.

my first helmet was a biltwell gringo. i chose it cause it looked cool. but honestly, you could do a lot better for way less money. the new ECE rated stock shield is probably tougher, but the bubble shields you have are not reinforced and will crack easily, especially at the part where it buttons onto the helmet. the detent is also weak. and if you ride day and night, changing the shields using a stupid screwdriver all of the time is gonna be annoying as fuck. i will also never wear a helmet without ventilation anymore. style-wise its awesome, but my gringo now stays on my shelf.
@forthebold5 жыл бұрын
So far so good. I have to say the ECE compared to the DOT is a vast difference. I don't know if I'd be happier to buy a helmet less than £170 so on the lower end of the price scale I can't complain.

@forthebold5 жыл бұрын
I actually thought they were on the cheap end of what I would normally pay for a helmet, I would never pay below these. As for air ventilation it's actually very clever and after trying it today they're designed to give you that and enough to keep the visor fog clear.
@markwilliams97935 жыл бұрын
You consider a Biltwell pricey???????? If you think they are pricey, how can you afford the bike?
@WolverineX19965 жыл бұрын
Oh shit you’re right sorry I confused the price tags between biltwell and bell, cause biltwell here in Italy are more or less and up 250€ and the bell are way over 450€, sorry for commenting wrong based on my bad memory, everything in Italy is just more expensive and just now these helmets are homologated cause the laws are really strictly, in north Italy at least. I will purchase a new biltwell lane splitter next month for my birthday, again sorry for my error.
@notstevelam5 жыл бұрын
@@markwilliams9793 there are bell helmets that are cheaper and better than the biltwell. the bell qualifier dlx blackout is like half the price, but still ECE rated, has ventilation and still looks pretty rad. plus it has tons of coloured shields as well that are WAY easier to swap out.

As fortnine are American people I can put my money on it being the DOT they’re testing. The ECE has a lot more to it. I can also say after testing it yesterday none of what is said there is true. Noise restriction is great etc. I guess this is where people need to make their own decisions from trying things out for them selves.
@mrbusak35 жыл бұрын
@@forthebold fair call, this is an older video and I noticed that the one he was testing had no visor hinges so it's possible there have been updates made to the whole bucket if it's now ECE compliant.
