An introduction to and unboxing of what may be the most utilitarian watch I've ever had in my possession.

I love my Promaster Tough! I had a quartz INOX too but ended up getting rid of it! I wear my Promaster all the time. I actually did a video a while back comparing the Tough to the INOX, both are good but for me the Tough came out on top. Great video!

Thanks for the feedback! I actually watched all of your Promaster Tough videos before purchasing this one. Thank you for those, BTW.

@@SuburbanPathfinder That’s great to hear! Thanks for watching my vids! I had the black version of the Tough a while back but gave it away a few weeks ago I rebought them black one! 😅 I’m considering doing a torture test series of the Tough at some point.

@@TheTownWatch I don’t know if I have the intestinal fortitude to intentionally torture any of my watches but I’ll definitely be contrasting the Tough, Tough chrono, and the INOX in upcoming vids. Keep up the good work!

@@SuburbanPathfinder Cool! That sounds like a great video. We’ll see how the torture tests go, I wanted to try something a little different than a gshock!

Well I, for one, will definitely watch your torture test videos.

I have this watch., It's a beast. Strap monster, comfy, great size, minimal height.......LOVE this watch

I know, right? Wearing it right now. Just my favorite.

It's also very legible.
@Splash111Ай бұрын
@folksurvival yes, extremely legible. Also sapphire glass. People in the US often overlook Citizen which is not as well known outside Japan. That's unfortunate for them.

Just picked one up today for $248 out the door. Love it

Cheers. I enjoyed the reviews, both of them. From someone with a near 20 year old, flawless, eco drive I agree whole heatedly with much said. I feel that the bracelet will scratch, titanium, but it will even out over time and take on a brushed finish(like mine). Thanks for the simple and straightforward reviews. I was looking at an orient or a different citizen promaster - this review gave me pause. Gave me much to consider: as a good review should. I am also on the same hunt: a tough watch to withstand anything in a day. My beloved eco-drive daily driver is old and has much sentimental value so she stays at home now. I have tried the vostoks, found them good but with many failings. Thanks again.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! I have a long history with Vostok as well but while I find them quite enjoyable, I have a hard time taking them seriously. In my experience, they will either survive an apocalypse or they will suffer a catastrophic failure, without explanation, almost immediately.
@alohm3 жыл бұрын
@@SuburbanPathfinder I agree. Immediately, or after a few weeks. I had a bezel just fall off one of my vostoks, one day. Good thing the bezels are non-functional, but that is to the extreme. I assume it is a feature: weight reduction on the fly?
@SuburbanPathfinder3 жыл бұрын
@@alohm perhaps! 😄 Those bezel retention springs are notoriously weak. I’ve looked down on several occasions and asked myself, “What is that silver ring lying on the ground?” It’s definitely disconcerting.

I’ve beaten this thing like you wouldn’t believe and it looks like new. I think it’s probably the best field watch I’ve owned, I do hate the date window however. It’s small and difficult to read. For the price it’s hitting way above its price point. 200m water resistance, sapphire, two tone lume, monocoque case, low profile, simple design and easy to read at a glance. I’ve really taxed this watch and it’s pretty near impossible to trash. Surprised by the scuffs in the bracelet. Nice unboxing, look forward to checking your other reviews.

Thank you! I agree about the date window. Probably the only thing I dislike about this watch.

I'm glad you got a good example. I bought mine from the same seller (see my comment on your follow-up video) and it's defective. It was obvious the case had been opened to do a repair; whatever repair was done wasn't done right, because it just stops running randomly. It's heading back to Texas this Friday. Such a shame--I still like the way the watch looks, love the concept, but it's always been horribly overpriced and the temptation of getting one for 1/3 MSRP got the best of me. Other buyers beware refurbs on this one--there were a ton of them out there for a reason, I think.

Sorry to hear about your less than positive experience. Thanks for sharing this though. Hopefully, others will read this and beware. Mine continues to run perfectly but I guess you never know. Thanks again!

Just picked up a refurbished one off ebay for $125 + tax. Excited to get my hands on it and its ridiculous date window.

I’ve got to get back to making some videos. Of all the new watches I added over the winter, this is the one I’ve been wearing almost constantly. Really really impressed.
@lucafwn3 жыл бұрын
Coming from the short version, I was just wondering why the watch was ticking every two seconds. Well, this long version answers that question. Too bad for the titanium nitride cover. Maybe it is indeed 5 times harder than stainless steel, but quartz particles are still harder...
@SuburbanPathfinder3 жыл бұрын
I fully anticipate the watch to get pretty scratched up eventually. I was just surprised to see visible scratching in 24 hours of light duty. I must have gotten against some harder mineral, as you said. I work in a building that is largely comprised of concrete. Not too difficult to come in contact with quartz particles I guess.
@lucafwn3 жыл бұрын
@@SuburbanPathfinder indeed - sand particles from the concrete are the first suspect.

I like how you pronounce Victorinox.
@SuburbanPathfinder3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I’m never really sure. I hear a lot of people pronouncing the name as if the first “o” doesn’t exist. This is just the way I’ve pronounced it since I received my first SAK at about 12.
