What I really like about Tim and his videos is his clumsiness at times. He reminded me of myself when I do things or building models. 😂 I would bang, ding, bump into other parts during the processes.

Do you remember Saturday night live with the best cast in the 70s? John Belushi and Jane Curtain were doing SNL news on the forced crashing of Sky lab. John had a globe and a toilet paper roll model of skylab, and he was showing how it would crash to earth,😂😂😂 I saw that rocket kit at Hobby Clown and thought of that episode. 😂😉

I built the Skylab and then the Apollo Saturn V that I had in storage. I liked the card stock reinforcement biscuits and fin alignment tool so much that I copied them for the Saturn V. I was a little surprised that the top vaccumform sheet was different between the two kits and the tunnels were in different locations. Skip the clay nose weight - they don't provide enough for the heaviest composite motors. I went with epoxied steel pellets in the nose and the total weight is 17 oz. I might fly it initially on a BP motor but more likely will be using CTI motors for better flights.

What timing! Just got the Estes Saturn V limited edition apollo 11 kit! It comes with the Eagle Lunar Module and everything! I dont have the heart to open the box yet...

Try blowing low expansion foam in the fin fairings for added strength, it helps with RC planes.

I have several NASA space models which includes the escape tower. The great thing about the Skylab model would be NO ESCAPE TOWER!! I find escape towers to be fragile and vulnerable. Thanks, Estes!

Hi Tim, anybody ever said you where a bit clumsy? (me too) Great presentation Mr. van Milligan. Nice kit..been thinking on building a Saturn V myself one day.. ofcourse all the clay is also included cause it seem to have the scaled fins and those are really small.

Been waiting for estse to bring back thier original saturn v, but until think I'll have to grab this kit, also doesn't apogee have a skylab kit as well ?

I had new 2022 ESTES catalog , I read em as I had high hope for two Saturn V rocket with Apollo spacecraft / escape tower and Saturn V rocket carrying Skylab kits but no Saturn V Apollo spacecraft with escape tower kit ! I see few older Estes flying rocketry kits . I want Estes 3 feet tall scale Nazi German V-2 missile kit since I brought it , build it then launch it successful on school ground as flying rocketry club as I was member . At home , open county ground for launch flying rockets then set 3 feet scale Nazi German V-2 missile up on launch pad then launched few time till last launch before go home , launched but engine shutdown itself as V-2 missile lost flight then turn to down engine restart itself , V-2 missile dive toward ground like real Nazi German V-2 missile dive till destroyed . I can’t restore it . I unable afford it but hobby stores sold out then owner of hobby store told me about Estes company decided don’t make it anymore . It’s disappointing for me . Estes company aren’t popular with flying model rocketry hobbyists love older flying model rocket kits because Estes company aren’t make em much but some older Estes flying model rocket kits comeback as special limited time . Young generations of flying model rocketry hobbyists want older Estes flying model rocket kits and Estes scale flying model rocket kits . It’s disappointing for me because my old school planning building museum in future as their fund grow because school are over 160 years old has older furnishings , older printing machine , more plus Flying rocketry club and train club , school staff asked me for set flying rocketry club up and asking ex flying rocketry club members has few their flying model rockets , ex teacher keep their plans of flying model rockets in file box stand in school’s storage room . I told old school staff “ get build new museum or I’ll goner because I’ll be older man . Today , I’m 65 years old now , might find Estes flying model rocket kits as hobby stores haven’t sell em even collectors has em but pretty expensive . I attempted touch with Estes Company on computer system but aren’t friendly enough few years . I had succeeded then I’ll quit build flying model rockets after done set flying rocketry club display at new museum .
