I started the hobby about a month ago this was the first filter I bought with a fluval 3.0 light and fluval q2 air pump

Great filter but I don't think I will upgrade from my 406 unless it packs up.But these filters are so reliable I could be waiting a while.

I’ve been running one for at least 6-8wks. Never had fluval canisters before...I’m impressed. Got a little confused with the head unit gasket on first assembly, turned out I put in the wrong groove. But yeah, ever so quiet. If it weren’t for the water movement in my tank. You wouldn’t know it was on.

Very quiet and does an amazing job. Took a bit to do a "spillproof" water change, but once you get it down, it's a breeze.

So excited to learn about this canister filter! I've been a hang on back purchaser for years but have been scared of switching to canisters!!! This video is awesome and hopefully I can switch to a 407 canister filter soon!!! ❤🐟🐠🐡

Don't. Fluval filters always end up leaking- theyre built poorly IMO. Eheim cannisters (like the classic series 2217) are great. I've had them for years- no leaks yet- have strong motors, easy to clean with little mess. A much better investment. Ask others. I've known people who have had eheim filters for 20+ years still running strong. Their heaters are the best too IMO. If you don't want water to ruin your floors- go with eheim.

it depends on user though, good maintenance is the key. Watch pondguru pimp my filter for ypur beloved eheim filter. It will crash your heart, lol

I used the Fluval 405 before I moved to Eheim Professional 2 canister filters for my 75 and 90 gallon tanks. Fluval filters were good. But Eheim builds a better product. Fluval used cheap flimsy plastic parts that broke constantly. The ceramic impeller shaft was as brittle as glass. Common traits. Parts were cheap to replace, relatively anyways, but still a good starter canister filter. Eheim is a legend though. Good to see back in the saddle. Keep pushing.

I've had my 404 since forever. At least 15 years or more and had no problems. Normal replacement of wear parts like the lid gasket a few bucks and a new inexpensive primer pump.. The impeller still works fine etc. Heck if you remember to shut off the water stop before turning the canister off for cleaning then you never have to prime it anyways. It's super quiet so I don't know how they could make the new one 25% more quiet?

Do you think it's worth the upgrade from my 406 to the 407? I was thinking about an upgrade next time I'm planning a proper filter maintenance (sometime in the new year) as I would be replacing a few components anyways. Also what do you think of the amount of media they supply? There only looks enough bio media to fill half of one those baskets.

Hey there, I am going to purchase a nano tank to setup a small aquascape for the first time. I can't seem to pull the trigger on a filter system for it. I see so many, they do this, they do that. I just need one that works, and really don't want to get into the carbon setup yet. Would you be able to suggest a few for me? I only plan on having a couple rocks and a carpet plant. I like the nice clean look, not really into having long plants in the back, medium in the middle.

tank size is irrelevant, amount of food that you feed the tank is important...that is only polution that you bring in aquarium

I was told by a Pisces employee to get a 10 gallon tank with a built in sump instead of a 20 gallon for clownfish because it’s better to have less space and more technology than more space and technology that can’t keep up with the waste in the tank for two clownfish. I decided to go with the ten gallon and when I opened the box later expecting a real filter, I only found a filter sock. I setup the tank with water and everything and am currently using the filter sock. I was just wondering if the filter sock will provide enough filtration?

Only thing I hate about Fluval is the ribbed tubes. Every time I clean mine when I start it it shoots out the shit that was stuck in the cracks.

Forget the Fluval 407 . If your country has them get the Oase Biomaster Thermo 600. Massive filter with great features and a good backup service.
