I’m too predictably Scottish and tight to buy the poster book too Carmen :) I’m hopefully for more HK films from Severin too, this is my first of their releases. We definitely have volume two of the Brucesploitation series coming at some stage.

I preordered the set, looking forward to diving into the doc, and the films. I also thought Dynamo was good. I remember Michael Worth mentioned he was working on Duel of the 7 tigers to be remastered on his label. It’s been a while since that announcement. Hopefully that will still be in the works…

Yes Duel of 7 Tigers is still in the works and Michael and I will do the commentary. We’ve been so busy we have yet to get to it.

I think we’ll be safe! These were not easy movies to find negatives for, think Severin are the only place that managed to source the negatives of the films. Scan them and put them out. We won’t see a U.K. version coming from any of the labels here.

the set doesn't actually get released until the 25th June 2024, Severin are just very quick at sending out pre-orders. I placed my order a few mins after pre-orders went live. Did you order a copy or have you been promised a comp copy?

They’re ok, I feel much the same about them as I do the Top Gun movies, super patriotic, which seems to rub lots of people the wrong way when it comes from Chinese movies but it’s a big part of the success of American movies that wave their own flag. I think coming from such a tiny country as I do ( only 5 1/2 million people in Scotland) I find myself rarely getting swayed in any way by any overly patriotic elements in big movies no matter where they come from. I prefer the Wandering Earth movies over the Wolf Warrior films. Wu Jing is always better as part of an ensemble cast rather than in the lead. I agree part two was better than part one. Part two is the one with Frank Grillo as the villain right?

mate you don't know the half of it, Severin use Fedex and the last 6 orders I had that used those shitkickers all either went missing or they failed to deliver so many times in a row I had to drive out to their depot and pick them up myself. amazingly this came on the day Sererin said it would. it's a fucking miracle.

Not an unpopular opinion man. But not one I share. The Brucesploitation movies exist, in large numbers, some are great films, some less so, but for fans of HK and Martial Arts cinema there is a lot here to enjoy. But I get that they’re not for everyone and clearly not for you.

@adamsosickmo2895 agreed! and often some excellent supporting actors, a great many veterans from countless Shaw Brothers’ films.

It’s easy to disregard all of these films because you have an admiration for Bruce Lee. Trust me, my admiration for that man goes very very deep. But, just like an Elvis impersonator doesn’t take away from the real person, these films have their own life, their own history and often times are loaded with now well-known Martial Artists cutting their teeth on filmmaking. They are definitely historically relevant.
