It's a new month and another Elite Mystery Tackle Box. It's also the last mystery tackle box for me. I have canceled my subscription and am moving on. I have had a love hate relationship with MTB for a long time now. As pioneers in this space, MTB has always been a leader in subscription fishing boxes. I have subscribed to practically every subscription tackle box there is and although, never the best, Mystery Tackle Box has always been able to produce a consistent that fishermen and women can rely on. I'm with you on the mtb boxes. They suvk. Always with sample packs of hooks and googan products. I canceled mine a while back. I'm sticking with 6th sense myself. They've gotten way better them selves

GOOOOOOGGGGGAAAAANNNNN. The number one reason I don’t get MTB. At this point if I get an itch to open a box I go to Acadamy and pick one up on sale just for the fun of it. I like the head banger actually. Killer in late fall.

Thanks for sharing. Acme is more into ice fishing lures, spoons, etc. mostly metal baits. I think that’s why many bass fishermen haven’t heard of them. They make nice baits, just not a top “bass” brand. It’s probably a good blade bait, so I’d try that one if I were you. That may be the top bait in the pack.

That’s sticker is worth $15.99 tho … I hate subscriptions because they usually put 2 or 3 crappy products that devalues the box, I rather go all out and buy premium products when retailers have sales

I used to get the Tackle Subscriptions back in 2018/19/20 so I could do unboxings for my channel. But I find way better deals on shit that I'll actually use at the shops around my city.

Yeah, I dropped them a while ago for the same reason. I had the elite box for a long time but got tired of the same brands and nothing ever stood out to me.

When MTB first started the boxes were good you got a good selection of things now they are overloading the boxes with Googan products. MTB is owned by Catch co. as is Karl's bait and tackle The Googan's promote Karl's and are also affiliated with Catch co. in fact some of the Googan squad members have promoted MTB on videos by doing MTB openings on videos. The Squad members have also done videos for Karl's as well during most of the Googan podcast shows they do Karl's commercial breaks every 15 - 20 minutes during the podcast and close the podcast with a promotion of Karl's .

I don’t like googan baits but, Googan has two baits I can’t do without, their buzz bait and the slizzard lizzard. They have worked really well for me.

I canceled my MTB subscription months ago, but almost got sucked into renewing when they had their sale....glad I didn't. I have SO many useless baits from them that I'll most likely never use. I did just subscribe to the Lurenet bi-monthly series. Baits are way more expensive useful for me as a bank fisherman.

Every time you go to the website they try to push Googan down your throat and fill the boxes with majority Googan products. I don't have anything against Googan but by far the best Googan bait is the bandito bug. And i love the Jabber Jaw its an awesome lure but you can get them on sale all the time and they haven't been $12.99 since they first came out

Never heard of acme? The kasmaster, little cleo, Phoebe? Sidewinder? They are all some of the most classics metal baits. The kastmaster especially comes in tons of sizes and colors can be cast, vertically jigged. Popular from ponds to ocean. Company was started in the 1950s. I can understand the metal vibe bait, being kind of strange, but from the dakotas to Main it would be generally a liked inclusion, values higher than that spinner bait and headbanger. I understand never fishing one of their baits, but never hearing of them?

I quit getting mine cause there was too many months it was all catchco and googan. They used to send some legit cool shit back in the day. Used to get like s-wavers, sick jdm baits,and other cool baits. Now it just advertising for there meeehhh baits.

I think they use so much Googan becaue it never sells well and because MTB could cater towards the younger fishing audience who watch them on youtube.

You might be right. I think that Googan was bought by Catchco at one time. I saw a recent podcast with Rob Terkla who started it all that he is taking back control of the company. Maybe he will make it better. For the record, I do like some Googan products, but MTB is Googan heavy for sure.

I 100% disagree with everything you said except the googan stuff. The point of the box is not to give you all the baits you want it is more of a challenge for the angler to see what techniques they can use to catch fish.

MTB rode that hype wave too long. Now theyre all hype and promotion, and nothing great inside. Im always disappointed with the contents. Those Jabber Jaws are pretty good, but the rest of the box was... meh
