Unboxing and first thoughts on the NEW Grainfather SF50 Conical Fermenter, Joined by Griffo jnr.
I've struggled to find an affordable conical to match the Grainfather G40's versatility and I'm hoping this is the one! Bus it's sexy stainless steel - so who cares! 😂

Great to see this fermenter in the flesh, as it were! I currently have a GF30 and have been looking at the SF50 with interest for upping my batch sizes but, as I don't have space for a permanent brewing fridge/chamber, I would love to see availability of a custom neoprene insulation jacket for it! Love your videos and looking forward to see you making use of that beast!

Thanks for your kind comment! Yes, an insulated jacket will be ideal, It's currently wearing my fleece and coat to keep the chill off haha.

You can get the Ss brewtech fts stainless coil and drill a couple of holes in the side. Pond pump off Amazon hooked up to your stc1000. Then you can send cool water from the fridge. Just put a tub in there and the pump. Won’t be cold crashing but in the summer it should keep it cool for ales. After that it won’t be long till you get a glycol. Tbh you might be able to pick up one of those glycol bar chillers.

Well looks very nice I'm brewing so small these days I'm using a 15 litre plastic fermenter, but would like one day to get that fermenter and brew big batches, good you have a assistant on hand, that shows a bit of interest well done.... Comical packaging routine..Tidy.....

You definitely need more space in the brewery now you have that beast to house, I'm thinking second storey for a bar/lounge. Good to see the young Griffo being utilised too, got her mum's good looks so you're lucky there 😂. Seriously though, make more videos, you're quite good at this KZfaq thing 👍

Hi, I’ve watched this vid a few times since you released it (sad) and I’m very close to getting one! Can you do a vid on temp control with it as that’s my main concern. I use a standard fridge just now with 30l fermenters and if a double batch I split and do half on a heat pad. I would want this just in the garage with a belt as you suggest. Or are there better options? P.S. great vids, we need more!

Thank you! The brew belt won’t work for really cold or draughty places, i’m looking for a longer term solution including insulated jacket and heat pad. Also hoping to get a chiller rigged up 😜🍺 Will all be vlogged once worked out 😅

Great video as always, do you have a plan for chilling it down in the summer? I only ask as I would love a proper fermenter, but it wouldn’t fit in my fermentation fridge. 😂

Hi Matthew, I wouldn't call it a "plan" to be honest, but I have a couple of ideas (outside of investing in a glycol chiller!) keeping beer at a reasonable fermenting temp is one thing but largering in summer won't be possible without the chiller, unfortunately! That's why i'm keeping hold of my fermenting fridge and 7 gal fermenter :-)

Looks great. Assume too large for an undercounter fridge? I would urge caution with using a brewebelt on a metal fermenter which isn't earthed.

Hi David, yes i did review the FJD product but they then ran into shipping problems to the UK so I had to unlist to avoid encouragement (and disappointment) of anyone ordering from the UK. I will release the review once they confirm shipping is sorted 👍

That is lovely. Mine is stuck in mail and I will receive it on Monday. I have prepared a fridge for it but I am concerned about the width of it. Can’t find any info about that anywhere. Would you please measure the width with and without the handles for me in centimeters, would be forever thankful from a geeser with the exact same setup as yourself 😀🍻 cheers for the video my friend.

Good idea, I may do next time I get some all grain kits - these ones are mid fermentation already 👍😂
