Awesome loco and an amazing review! You might be fascinated to know that one of these type of locomotive came to Trinidad to work on the Bronte Sugar Estate. At the end of its career, it was converted into a mobile boiler ( only the boiler and firebox) and now, is plinthed on a driveway of a private home.

Good Evening Sam, Onces again, that was really sweet of Hattons, this time sending you the brand new Hattons Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank just before they release them next month. The Hattons Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank in Caledonian Railway Blue livery looks fabulous, the wonderful detail and the running performance is flawless. The Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank Engines were built in Scotland. I've seen a full size Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank Engine, Katie at the Churnet Valley Railway awaiting restoration to full working order, I'm planning to pre-order the Hattons Katie in red livery by early March. You should do a special running session on St Andrews Day on Friday 30th November 2018 by running Steam Locomotives that worked in Scotland such as Caledonian Single No.123, No.4472 Flying Scotsman who hauled the Flying Scotsman Express Train to Edinburgh, the Hornby J36 Maude, LNER D49 4-4-0, LNER A4 Pacifics, the LMS Coronations, Princesses & Royal Scots & not forgetting the Hattons Caledonian Railway Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank. I know St Andrews Day is a long way. Back to the review of your Hattons Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank, onces again fantastic. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 10/10 😊

Heya Sam As always great video and review! Such an interesting prototype/s, such interesting lives for little loco's! I should imagine that they used the vast array of loco's that have been preserved for reference materials, but that is an awful lot of travelling. That Caledonian livery really is stunning, but I'm gonna (hopefully) get Katie as she is preserved (well stored) at the Churnet Valley Railway and compare her with my Peckett. With the view to pulling my brake van trains. Olly

Already got my eye on this and the cute little 0-6-0s. When I get ahold of one of these, I'll go with a Dark Green one and see if I can manage to modify it via Transfers into a Great Western engine (not accurate but I'm going for a GWR theme). I'm looking forward to other things Hattons may come out with.

Well, I presume I'm quite late on making a comment with this little engine, but I've got to hand it to Hatton's Model Railways. Their locomotives are produced with quality in mind, as well as the modeller's financial capabilities. Performance and detail go hand-in-hand, and the wide variety Hatton's is producing for both the 16 and 14 cylinder inch diameter variations, not to mention the accuracy on the liveries and cabs as well. I've managed to get my hands on the GWR shirt button "705", and have been delighted with his performance ever since his arrival several months ago; one thing I wish there would have been was a size comparison between engines (I did one on my Twitter; had plenty of laughs myself showing it against Bachmann Branchline's 9F "Evening Star"), but I think seeing it run with those coaches and your other Caledonian Railway engines should have helped with that. Seeing as you're a fan of the Caledonian Railway blue, do you plan to purchase Bachmann Branchline's McIntosh 812 class locomotive they've announced? I know I will, which means this gorgeous little Barclay may join my fleet alongside the 828 once it's arrived.
@SamsTrains4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Hank - absolutely, they did a fantastic job on these - glad to hear you were happy with yours too! Sadly I don't intend to buy the 812 - it's just unreasonably expensive to me :( Thanks for watching - Sam :)

It's really interesting to see that Hatton's has only done industrial-ish type tank engines so far. Hopefully we'll see more of this in the future so we can get locomotives which are aren't popular compared to your average Jinty or J50. Maybe we'll see some pre-grouping locos too! Who knows!?!?! Great video as always Sam! - Ben

Thanks Ben - yeah it seems like they know what will make a good seller! Absolutely - I can't wait to see what else they come up with! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)

I'm ordering a Barclay this week: just need to decide which one! What made me chuckle is the fact that, for a genuine pre-1923 Caledonian Railway Loco, the Hornby 'Pug' is the most accurate one there! No.123 was modelled by Triang in her post-1923 (As Preserved) Condition, with the safety valves atop the firebox as opposed to Drummond's original position on the dome. The LMS Rebuilt her to this shape, so even the full size one is in an inauthentic livery! Hattons' Andrew Barclay shows the loco as preserved in the 1990's at the preservation-era Caledonian Railway, as the real loco was never owned by the original CR. Still, fantastic model, and even more reason why I need to get on and order mine. I'll be ordering an SECR P too, but the Original Wainwright Green ones aren't due out until May, so that gives time for the bank account to recover!

Really Nice! A very impressive model, like the P Class which I plan on getting! Very clever of Hatton's to tap into the new 'small industrial loco' category, which Hornby opened up with their Peckett. The Caledonian Livery, although really nice, isn't really prototypical for the pre-grouping era, given that the livery was applied to this loco first in preservation!

Thanks very much Lukas - yeah absolutely, very very impressive! For sure - but little things like this just seem to sell like hotcakes these days! Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Really nice Sam . The Caley Blue I think is a preserved livery. There were never any actual Caledonian ones . I think I fancy the red one . With a short 0-4-0 wheelbase I think some point stuttering is almost inevitable
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Hi Russell - yes you're right I think - the data sheet I have for it says 1920s/2000s - so that must be right! Yeah the red looks lovely too - and agreed, can't really blame her for stuttering on the points! Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Now that's a nice little one! I'm thinking of getting one for my coal yard. And i have a suggestion, you should do a video about how to capture model trains! All the best, Peter

The Andrew barclay is the most adorable little engine you have ever reviewed. Next to the p class, I can see them double heading a train sometime in the future. I also saw Lowmac cow, London transport pannier, class 03, or, was it 04, and that little green engine, thats not british, looks more foreign, looks nice with those coaches.

superb loco! one I am definitely going to pick up at some point probably number 6 in the NCB green, hattons are properly giving bachmann and hornby a run for there money. there is also a video on hattons of one pulling 10 to 15 wagons up hill without slipping!
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Ooh good choice - I really liked the look of that version too! They really are - these Hatton's models are expensive, but they bring the detail and quality to match - the two Hatton's models I own are literally the best modern locos on my collection - probably by a long way! Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Really love the loco and you've done a good job with the review. I can't remember the name of it but I would love to see it beside the other tank loco from Hatton's (the grey one) for size and just because I think they would look nice together.

Thanks so much mate - ooh yeah the P class? Sure - I'll try to run those together at some point, good idea! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
