What’s happening in this Unbroken movie clip?
Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell from This Is England and the TV show Skins) gets attacked multiple times by The bird (Miyavi from Kong: Skull Island). Watanabe asks him to look him in the eye and then proceeds to beat him with a wooden stick. The soldiers are then asked to quarantine, and Zamperini has to do it with a bloody, and probably broken, nose. The soldiers are then escorted to their sleeping location, where commander Fitzgerald (Garrett Hedlund from Troy and Mudbound) explains to Louis why they call Watanabe The Bird, and why he is like this.

What’s the movie Unbroken about?
Directed by Angelina Jolie, Unbroken is a movie that tells us the true story of an American hero. After a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell from This Is England and the TV show Skins), a US Olympian, spends 47 days in a lifeboat with his two other fellow crewmates. They get rescued by the Japanese navy and sent to a working camp as a prisoner of war. There he faces a series of abuses and tests by the Japanese soldier, that are trying to break him down and show him that he is not as good as he thinks he is. We have flashbacks to help us understand where he gets him strength and determination to keep going in such a harsh environment.

I imagine he was thinking: "If I survive this, when this war is over, I'm going to find that SOB sitting on the subway, sit behind him and crack his skull open with a bat." Or you could just be satisfied that when he went home after the war that he found his home and family burned alive in Tokyo in an incendiary raid.

I think he really did plan out a revenge plot against Watanabe when the war was over, and was going to fly to Japan and everything. He eventually realized that it was sending him into a very dark place, and putting his wife, and everything he cared about in jeopardy, so he let go. I can't imagine the guts it took to forgive Watanabe after all that had happened, but he did, and was even willing to meet with him in Japan. Watanabe wasn't as willing, however, and they never got to see each other.

He did, I read the book and it talks about how after the war his nightmares made him go mad and in one of his dreams he was strangling the bird and when he snapped out of it he found himself strangling his horrified wife. It was also causing him to be an alcoholic and he even groped a women. He would later find virtue in Christ and it helped reform both his life and marriage. He ended up living to almost 100 and stopped having nightmares.

@@DigOleBickInya oh no a meme….You do realize our firebombing killed more citizens then both atomic bombs? And invasion of the mainland would have been like Okinawa x 10 with millions of deaths in the landings alone. And even if you don’t think that’s justified how about you learn what the Japanese did in Nanking? Or the Philippians where the bayoneted pregnant women and hung the fetus in the air. And that’s just what is documented. Modern Japan is a cultural icon but Japan in ww2 were worse then the Nazis but no ever talks about it because almost all the war criminals were pardoned. Either take a joke or get educated.

In medeival times, Europe had a shortage of peasants. Feudal lords had to compete with eachother for peasants. This meant Peasantry gradually gained power/worth in society. In countries like Russia, China, and Japan, there was no such peasant revolution. Whipping and beating the lower class into submission, was all but common place. No different to Feudalism. Im Asian. Growing up, the difference in how my parents treated me vs how my friends parents treated them, was genuinely insane. As an American, its partially why Im so patriotic. Having China run the world would mean id have to deal with the shit I had to deal with growing up, but as an adult. It would be litteral hell on earth. I hate that culture and mindset. Id rather beleive I have inherent worth as a human being.
@honkhonk8009
@honkhonk8009 7 ай бұрын
@@spawnhork255 They had a father/mother figure. However what they didnt have, was a peasant revolution like much of western europe had. Eastern countries like Russia/China/Japan never had aristocracy compete for peasants untill the middle age. It was all feudalism until then. When modernity came around, that culture became the whoel "asian parent" culture we all know today.
