My wife just bought me a bottle of the 1884. Very nice and drinkable. Jack was my go to back in the day but this has a different flavor profile. I prefer it.

I find it really difficult to pick an American whiskey to go into my collection but I will definitely seriously consider this one as it not only an American whiskey but its from Tennessee

Oh, that's a Tennessee Whiskey I did not know about! Thanks for presenting! Some shops in Europe have it, but the prices are... sophisticated :D

I can imagine. American whiskies that are easy and inexpensive to buy here in the states can seem exotic and pricy on the other side of the Atlantic. ;)

Picked up a bottle of the 1884 for Christmas and just had a taste. It was recommended by my favorite package store clerk. I have to admit it is perfect for the season. I got a good spicey flavor and almost a cinnamon late finish. It is an excellent whiskey and now it is on my list to keep in stock. I like the Nearest story and the dedicated effort to make something great when the odds were not so good. Just goes to show you that dedication to excellence overcomes all.

Great tasting notes and I'm so glad you got to try it. The history of this whiskey does add to my overall appreciation for it. I love a good "against all odds" backstory. Cheers!

Started with the 1856 last week and got the 1884 is right in my wheel house. Smooth from start to finish. I a usually do a cigar/ whiskey session in my garage, this is the perfect dance partner with my Arturo Fuentes Hemingway

Awesome vid. I just bought a bottle of 1884 at the store. I try to drink a new whiskey I've never had before whenever I buy a new bottle. Looking forward to trying this one. I've heard it's got a sweet flavor which I generally appreciate. And I agree, 93 proof is a good sweet spot for whiskey in my opinion. Not too low but not too high. 100 proof is generally my max unless I'm at a party to let loose in or something. Both these sound like interesting whiskies overall and I'm looking forward to having a glass of 1884 tonight.

Supporting black and minority-owned businesses is a good thing. The fact that this is also a great tasting whiskey makes these purchases easy.
