Chapter 49 - Unconfined Aquifer - Permeability of soil - Field test
The property of the soil which permits the water or any liquid to flow through it through its voids is called permeability. It is the ease with which water can flow through the soils.
Field Tests are more reliable for the estimation of permeability of soil.

Lets say unconfined aqufier tickness is 10 m, which depth should well go into this layer to use all water in that layer? 9m or something?

Well explained video but still I'm having some doubts. If the water is continously being pumped out of the main tube, how is the level of water in the main tube less (surrounding level may drop as of draw down curve but how is it possible that the water being continously pumped out from the tube itself has a lower level?) and the next thing is how the area considered as cylindrical? and since the water being pumped out from the unconfined aquifer is at the bottom of the pervious layer i.e can be rocks or sediment deposit's bottom and in the figure we can see that the water has it's own layer. so, if the water removed is replaced by the adjacent water, it should be free to move and how is the concept of water percolating the soil is explained? And also since it is field test, how is the value of h1 and h2 determined in the field?(as it is below the ground) Anyone who knows, please explain this

How do we get that cylindrical area of radius r
@adarshaadhikari5102
@adarshaadhikari5102 Жыл бұрын
I think from the assumption that the flow is radial. so, considering cylindrical surface area due to radial flow towards the main tube. also the tube well is cylindrical. so, maybe cylindrical outflow=cylindrical inflow. I'm also not sure.
