I don't know. Am I heartless? I just have no sympathy whatsoever for these people who indulge themselves to this extent and then have to reduce their asking prices. Seems to me that in many cases they wasted their money. Would it kill them to live like ordinary people?

Your are so right, I agree with you 100% about the waste of money, that’s a fact. Just my views, There’s no such thing as “ordinary people”. Don’t give yourself nor others a title that was not given by our creator. There are many more wasted, abandon properties that will be polluting earth, while many out there are homeless. Just greed and materialistic, more they get, more they “WANT”

@@LeoandJudy It would probably be too charitable to call "greed" a mental illness - but what the heck, it is a mental illness at a minimum and probably always spiritual depravity. And so often these piles of money fall on such young heads, heads filled with brains that haven't even fully developed (unlike my brain, which fully developed and is now regressing LOL.). You are right, though.

I don't know, there are many schools of thought. I agree that some of the houses are unbelievably opulent bordering on insane but if they have the money to buy it then go ahead. For me, I'm interested in a large house because I would like to help young people get on their feet - have a secure place to live so they don't have to make choices from a fear perspective like I did when I was young. There are different motivations for everyone I guess. 😊

I've been an appraiser and a real estate attorney. The point is: people with that much money to spend on a "house" (not really a "home") want their own outrageous, bizarre "style" (or lack thereof) and "features". If you've got it and that's what you want ... fine! Just don't think anyone else wants it or will ever pay for it. My advice: buy a big, fancy house with just normal, if lavish, features and size.
@cjking4511
@cjking4511 6 ай бұрын
I disagree. As an "appraiser and real estate attorney" you already KNOW the larger the sq ft of a property the LOWER the cost per sq ft is! This really is about construction materials! If you pair a 8K 4 sided brick mansion against a 15K EIFS synthetic stucco mansion for sale at the same price the 4 sided brick house ALWAYS sells faster AND for more. If you pair a 15K EIFS synthetic stucco house against a 15K 4 sided brick house, the brick house ALWAYS sells for drastically more! EIFS synthetic stucco, especially from the 1980s and 1990s, carries a negative perception that has caused those properties to only be attractive to uninformed / uneducated / defensive about being uneducated type buyers! For example, Cardi B and Tyrese always whining about every time it rains their houses getting flooded with water. NOBODY told either of them to buy EIFS synthetic stucco houses that sat on the market over a decade at a high price! EIFS synthetic stucco houses carry very high maintenance costs and you laterally have no real foundation to your property.

Whitney Houston's story is one of the saddest in American history. Her lifestyle took down her daughter as well, making it even sadder. The power of their voice plus the 'feminine' charm are v seductive to the masses. Minnie Ripperton's 'Black gold of the sun' is very revealing. The black sun is Saturn - aka the black cube. Even if someone's life doesn't align with what you believe is great or perfect to your liking and belief (especially if you do not know them personally) what they do in and with it, is their business. Even if you believe it to be sad, you haven't walked 1 day, much less a second in her shoes to be privy to the trajectory of her life. As no one has the blue print to living Life! So let the leaves in others lives fall where they may. Too many folk do this and it is beyond intrusive and presumptous. As speaking on how you felt about how she lived, doesn't change a thing.

Nevertheless, you can zip your mouth and myob about those people as I am one fo them btw. I own 5 homes, thousands and thousands of square yards of land, a Porsche, Mercedes, and Lexus. 2 harleys ... and I pay my taxes to the government and NOT TO YOU. Jealousy is a curse, you should get out more instead of seething under your vile hateful breath about people you dont know. Do you know the stress and strain I underwent to get my 15 million, or they? Do you? No, I bet you still have something to say now, dont you? I paid a price for my money, I'll waste or share it as i deem fit. BTW. Did you consider that all 'excess over the top additions to their homes' create jobs for your carpenter uncle, your plumber son, or your dear mother that is my maid etc etc. They poor their money back into the economy which is what they should do buying what they want in the moment. Further, how much tax did you pay last year. I paid 250k and for the last 20+ years. Youre just jealous

None of this surprises me. People who come into a lot of money never consider the basic expenses of upkeep. Of taxes and insurance (both usually based on the value and/or size of the lot), the electricity, water, heat, and cooling that much space. All of these thing go up with a larger house. Then there's the staff that will be needed because cleaning and repairing the normal wear and tear becomes costly with that much square footage. It's not enough to be able to pay for the property; you have to have a regular income large enough to maintain it. Plus, they find out how many steps it takes just to get to the bathroom when they're talking about a house that's bigger than a football stadium. That sort of thing can be really annoying. And then there are the celebrities who build mansions in the middle of nowhere. I mean, if you're going to build in some back woods, keep it simple. Stick to a nice cabin. Something someone real might want to buy some day. Real estate is always an investment. Invest wisely and it will be an asset. Invest stupidly and you'll lose out.

Thats what I’ve noticed. The mansions are always some place far. Just driving out of there to get to a city 3-4 hours away is a pain. I’d say a 35 min drive to a nearby town or city tops. I’d invest heavily in solar panels, low watt light bulbs, sensors that automatically shut off lights and any electrical equipment that isn’t being used at that moment. Unfortunately, not all rich people are smart. They hire experts to guide them. Even then, they still make plenty of mistakes even with the best professional advice

The refrigerator is standard sized, the double sink doesn’t drain (well…it takes hours, eight hours…), and both the window and door are drafty. I am NOT crying for the rich & famous stubbing their toes on piles of cash or the carved crystal wine carts. Nothing against folks earning riches, but as some many equally precious human beings - children included! - struggling to simply live under plastic tarps and flattened cardboard boxed, or under bridges, excess opulence smells as wrong. Many "waste" it because they have so little privacy outside their home. Land gives them physical distance from paparazzi. Having own studio, gym etc. means they don't have to worry about being photographed on those trips. Guestrooms allow for those they work with to stay close. I'm sure that there is a lot of waste as well on some of these, but when everyone knows who you are, it can feel extremely important to have a place to hide in with your loved ones.

I can't believe how many mega-mansions don't "fit" where they were built in the USA. You want to see some nice design, come up to British Columbia. A lot of our architects were educated in Europe, our spec. builders are first class. I've finished fireplaces in BC inside 20 - 35- million dollar homes, but the nicest living home was a guy I knew that built 2275 sq. ft. and I'd take HIS build over all the others. We've also been building with 2x6 and 2x8 for decades now, and we're NOT in an earthquake/tornado/flood zone.

1980s and 1990s EIFS synthetic stucco house construction began in Atlanta here in the US and spread all over the US resulting in thousands of lawsuits by owners against builders. Right now most of these EIFS synthetic stucco houses are beyond their life expectancy! IMO if you live in the USA buy a 4 SIDED BRICK house in the right neighborhood and see your equity gains appreciate and STAY CLEAR of any "stucco" houses built in the 1980s and 1990s.

It is on a very busy highway (noisy). It also is way too customized to be attractive (gothic). Lastly, it is very likely EIFS synthetic stucco based on the year built which is a very horrible construction material. Present day, the only people buying EIFS synthetic stucco houses are uninformed black and b people and I believe they are paying way too much based on their uneducated overvaluation of the property as "beautiful" when the construction itself has NO foundation and does not fare well in gaining equity.

You can't hear PCH at all (been there 2x), and no, it didn't appear to be cheap stucco. None of the homes built in that era (in Malibu) had that issue. Maybe in the Valley or Sylmar, but not over by the Colonies.
@cjking4511
@cjking4511 6 ай бұрын
@@eatonmahfeelins It depends on how sensitive your ears are to noise. The 0.2 mile distance from the busy highway to the main house equates to noisy. How sensitive one's ears are to hearing the noise is subjective but that certainly is one of the reasons why the property has been on the market for so long and no one has purchased it. There are thousands of EIFS synthetic stucco houses built in Malibu during that era. Just because something does not "appear" to be synthetic stucco to you and you lack knowledge of it does not mean you should outright LIE and state "None of the homes built in that era" have synthetic stucco when the opposite is factually true and easily verifiable by a stucco test, reading the construction data on the property assessor's site, looking at listings where the listing agent discloses the property is "synthetic stucco" in the construction details, or increasing your knowledge of the material so you know what to look for! For example, the listing photos of Cher's house have visible rot and mold around many of the windows which is a common problem with EIFS synesthetic stucco. Furthermore, the property assessor states the property is "non-fireproof construction / wood frame." This also is indicative of EIFS synthetic stucco because EIFS synthetic stucco can only be installed on a wood framed house whereas hardcoat stucco needed a concrete or masonry frame back in that era and would be listed as Class C or B NOT Class D like this property is.

I'm not quite sure why I'm even bothering to make a comment, BUT I'll make an exception. The entire report collapsed with the recounting of Robin Williams estate--in Tiburon. First of all the narrator pronounced Tiburon wrong. Second, when showing the late actor's home, there were aerial shots of Williams' house in the Napa Valley interspersed with the property in Marin (which was also mispronounced). There was no mention of the Napa Valley property leading one to believe that the house in the Napa Valley was actually located in the gated community on the northeast side of the Belvedere-Tiburon peninsula. But then as I look back at the other representations of houses/celebrities, it is nothing more than a cobbled together collection of videos and still shots from a variety of sources all readily available on the web. But as we can tell, the web is rife with misinformation. At the very least this production is both inaccurate and unrewarding.

One of my favorite shows growing up was "The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" with Robin Leach. This video reminds me of this show.

Among them all @ 14:39...this Coconut Mansion attracted me most $1.75M- year 2009 plus his upgrading related to music [ dance studio, recording studio, etc] that's the quality of life🥀...

It’s never a lot of steps to get to the bathroom. These large mansions tend to have a bathroom everywhere you turn. They usually have about 12-25 in em

The way they were building in the 90s with such high ceilings and vast rooms make for very high utilities and maintenance

When the zombie apocolypse comes, I won't be living in a forest with a bit of plastic keeping the rain off, or an old railway siding or abandoned concrete warehouse, like they seem to do on TWD. Weirdos. Feck that. I'll be in one of those millionaire gaffs at the top of a hill. Zombies are lazy. I'll be golden.

I remember actually providing temporary heat to the 50 Cent property when it was originally built by Ben Sisti out in Farmington, CT. Later I was invited to a few parties there when Tyson owned it. Spectacular place but it was like a small city of its own and remember thinking this place is gonna need one hell of a budget to own as it requires proper upkeep. What a massive friggin place it turned into even from the monster it already was when first built.

Funny. I just drove by this massive place about 15 minutes ago. Haven’t been out here in a very long time and here I am passing the driveway after all this time right after commenting on it here in KZfaq. The world simply must work by some mystical power of suggestion, lol. 😎😎😎

I think it was costing Mike Tyson 80k per month just for upkeep and costs..mind you he was being ripped off left and right by his "advisors"

Proves that excess eventually becomes too extreme to maintain and appreciate. No one loves others creations like they do. I wonder how many of the lavish estates have a Bible lying around somewhere?
