Majek Fashek brought a lot of vibes into the Nigerian Reggae music scene from the time he released his first album The Prisoner of Concience which later became the name of his band after splitting up with his fraternal super band, the Jahstix. The Jahstix wes made up of Black Rice, Majek Fashek, George Orwell and Amos McCroy. starting out in Benin Edo State in Nigeria, before moving to the commercial and entertainment center , Lagos. They were the studio and road band of many artistes of the Nigerian music scene in the 80s and also got to play their own concerts. Majek Fashek left the group in 1987 to start a solo career with the release of his first album 'The Prisoner of Concience. Majek relocated to the United States of America and got signed on Interscope Record label.
After a couple of albums , the Rainmaker returned to Nigeria and made moves to revive his dwindling career, but plagued by ill-health, he later passed on on the 1st of June 2020 in New York, United States of America.
